Just curious, but what're these things?

I've been doing a lot of T1 runs lately (building up Crowns to buy CE before I take on T2), and on some of the levels I've found something interesting:
I thought at first they were just found around Minerals or maybe at the lower depths, but then I found this at Depth 1 at another gate:
What exactly are they? I've only seen them a few times, and they look a lot like the patterns on the floor behind the Konjuring Kat, so are they related somehow? Is there something more going on in the game? Or are they nothing more than things tossed in there to make the levels look visually interesting?

The Fifth Pentacle of Saturn
The Fifth Pentacle of Saturn combined with the meaning of the Seventh Pentacle of the Sun.
Two circles, denoting the angels names between the two. The center shows a resemblance to the Third Pentacle of Mercury. Although the angelic names are gibberish in this case.
