Yesterday I was playing in The King of Ashes mission and a person with all 3* gear joined in and he wasn't a Vanguard. I read people must have a 5* gear equipped in order to attend a mission rank of 8 and above.
So is this a bug, can people bypass it with invites, or did I miss something about equip limits?
EDIT: since my computer has a hard time keeping SK open for more than 10 secs after I switch windows, I guess I can't have an alt trying.
if the guy is a friend he can join also if he's invited or in you guild. the armor doesn't matter unless the 3 star person tries to start his own party in a 5 star mission.
Your rank does not effect the missions you can join, just the gear you can equip. It also has a grandfather clause to cover anybody that was already end game but didn't bother to do any missions to get a Vanguard rank.
Equipping items is now limited by your Mission Rank:
- Mission Rank of 3 is required to equip 2-star gear
- Mission Rank of 5 is required to equip 3-star gear
- Mission Rank of 6 is required to equip 4-star gear
- Mission Rank of 8 is required to equip 5-star gear
Any equipment bound before this patch will become your new current equip limit. For example. A knight who had only completed missions through Rank 3 but had 4 star gear equipped will be able to equip gear 4 star and below until achieving Rank 8.

People must have rank 8 to EQUIP 5* gear. That's what you got wrong.
I don't believe the equipment limit has any effect on what missions a player can join; it only effects what * of gear the knight can wear..
