So this is the first time this has happened to me. I was playing fine earlier in the day, went to play again a few hours later, and:

Moving to Haven (or the Guild Hall) gets me something like:

Although my character doesn't load and the camera is fixed in place, I can still move around (albeit with noticeable lag) and talk to other players. When I move, everything on the screen except for a few small graphical effects freeze.

I've tried:

- Restarting the game/steam/my PC
- Reinstalling the game
- Messing with various graphics options
- Updating various drivers and Java
- Turning off the Steam overlay
- Verifying the integrity of the game files through Steam
- Doing a System Restore to 2 days ago

No luck with any of the above.

The most confusing bit of it all to me is that I can play the game just fine through the browser. It's only playing through Steam that gives me these issues.

Getting this issue just before the final stretch of Kat grinding is a bit disheartening. I'm not about to point any fingers, but I'm losing my chance to get a book drop at this rate and I've found no solutions.

Well the fix was pretty silly. A friend mentioned that after uninstalling, some files might be left behind, and to clear those out. When I checked out the folder, it seems everything had been left behind. The uninstaller did little more than remove the game from Steam's library apparently.

So, manually deleted those, reinstalled the game, everything's back to working order.
