Ever since I began living in cradle, one hostile I have had numerous encounters with lie within the slime family. But I think it was with a good reason. Waking to a ready room for a PB&J sandwich, my system never agrees with the jelly, stalling in what I perceive is lag. But back to the relevance of the matter.
My first dance with the various jelly cubes kept me on my toes with spike after spike. I noticed this especially when the special effects I'd assault each cube with blinded me from what was really going on the second later; spikes would ascend from below me in order to stagger my struggle. More than half of their attempts on my life were concordant with where I was always bound to be. And while I got use to their prompts over time, I occasionally shutter at the thought of the royal slime, the fattest cube of them all, should adopt spikes of its greater minions.
When I thought I had seen it all, the harmless little lichens who would try to tackle me ever so often also caught me off guard when they ganged up on me. I should have known there was a reason for their apparent growth. Something had communicated to them of the effectiveness of those spikes, maybe they are related to those stronger cubes. I know not. however, one of the most dangerous enemies to tackle alone has always been their colony.
The funny thing was, I thought that assaults from where I stood ended with the slime. But was I wrong when I chose to approach the big iron. Not only did it have lasers coming at me, but its pursuit from the ground up made spikes look like a thing to sneeze at. And they sure are persistent, following me doggedly. I could have sworn that I died somewhere along that skirmish but the prestige points afterward suggests that I succeeded... somehow. From that point on, I chose to anticipate something from the ground up with anything that attacked me, even things that flew. As foolish as maintaining this belief was, my insistence proved to be of aid to me. At least once...
-Normally my dives to the latest depth of the clockworks were restful once I was closest to the core, and I should have been wise when I first saw tentacles spring for my party of four, but I was proven wrong. When first encountering the Apocrea head on, I learned to run the other way. Unfortunately, I was not swift enough to escape its clutches the first time.
tl;dr: Good work in applying slimilar attacks with newer enemies. Credit goes to the mist bombs, GMs, and the slime family.
