Here is a list of suggestions and things I’d like to see in Spiral Knights. No, those words aren’t redundant on account of the fact that it may have already been established that certain suggestions on this list will never be taken/implemented and I, silly goose that I am, missed the memo saying so, in which case they are no longer “suggestions” but rather “things I’d like to see but I can accept kinda that I won’t”. If you agree with me on any of these, then okay cool.
Also I took my sweet time writing this before posting it here so expect it to be mad long

1. Moar chess theme: There are already chess symbols in the game- the Trojans, some of the gate symbols, the Gunpuppies look like chess knights, and the Lumbers remind me of Rooks. But I’d like to see some cool levels made out in black and white with some similarly recolored enemy variants and more chess-inspired enemy designs. And maybe a Black or White King boss.

2. Harlequins: I would like a helmet shaped like a jester hat. I just would. And it would go so well with all the other symbolism/themes of knighthood and medieval stuff. And to go with that, can we have some Items that are just there for the sake of being hilarious. Not just silly armor pieces. I mean like guitars as weapons and maybe some juggling clubs as weapons.

3. Random/Emergent content in the levels: I actually said this somewhere but yeah, I’d like some stuff that’s random and makes it feel like you’re actually exploring a strange and mysterious planet-structure. Something to give an air of mystery and creepy to the whole thing, you know? And oh, keep quiet about what’s deliberate random content and what’s a bug/glitch except in the case of an actual bug/glitch so we can get excited documenting all the stuff that happens.

4. Water themed enemies/levels: Someone else has said this so mad props to them and well it’s on my list because it gives the potential for H.P. Lovecraft references- let’s say R’lyeh got stuck in the clockworks or something and we get to fight a Cthulhu-based boss. And Deep One Gremlins.

5. Some face/eyes customization: this- oh who am I kidding, the eyes are all we can see of the faces these super-deformed buggers have, that is assuming they actually have faces. But then again I would like to make one of the eyes scarred or compound eyes or something. Or make them have a dopey expression.

6. STOP DOUBLING: There’s other ways to calculate the res cost than simply doubling the previous res cost and you know it, and they can let players play longer and pay more CE overall too. May I suggest Fibonacci? Here, check this
1+2+4+8+16+32+64= 127
1+1+2+3+5+8+13+21+34+55= 143
Even if I’m paying more overall I’ll probably play longer on account of the numbers looking smaller.

7. NO Spells or “Magic”: Let me try to put into perspective how ridiculous the whole notion is anyway. We can alchemize anything we need using the right materials at the machines. We can and will make powerful weapons and armor that can do all kinds of things. What additional advantage could spells or magic offer? All this shite is practically magic anyway, but more like goofy sciency magic, you know? Everything here is kind of magic in a way, isn’t it. Vials full of burning fire and electrocuting fluid and monsters made of mercury and clockwork planets and stuff. If you look around, there’s magic everywhere in this ^$@#!, it’s all around us. @$#&^!*%ing miracles, right?
