On the Skylark, Skylgier was sharpening her sword. A simple Proto Sword with few decorations. She was a strong believer of “use over ornament”. She was, like most other knights on the Skylark, a teleporting device, that, in case of an emergency would teleport the wearer to his/her escape pod.
Botswan was in the brig again. This time, it was more of a habit for the crew to put him there more than anything else. They put him in there, after confiscating his sword, because he was running through the narrow corridors of the Skylark waving his rapier screaming. This was the latest of his misadventures and many knights were beginning to believe he lost it. He was still wearing his teleportation unit.
Loupe was arguing with the captain of the guard, grendal. Loupe was a headstrong former Iron Wolf who was dishonorably discharged. His unwavering loyalty to the Spiral Order got him into trouble when he was ordered to go against that loyalty. After discharge he was allowed to keep his armor as a reminder to the brave deeds he accomplished in battle in the Morai wars.
“You must end him! Don’t you see? His crazy antics have put several recruits in the infirmary! Botswan has become a menace!” Screamed Grendal
“I cannot kill a fellow knight. It is against all that I have sworn to both do and protect.” Loupe countered easily.
“Your loyalty blinds you and will someday be your downfall. Do you want another discharge? If not, go and do your duty.” Grendal was losing patience. Loupe was an amazing soldier but he could be really thick sometimes.
Suddenly, the alarm went off. Skylgier leapt up, already beginning to teleport to her escape pod.
In the brig, Botswan was gone, leaving only his tally of how many times he has been there to testify his imprisonment.
Loupe was calm as he appeared in his escape pod. As an experienced knight he was in many close calls and crashes like the one the Skylark experienced. He settled down at his controls wearily.
Skylgier was in her first real ship-wide evacuation and was not taking well. She nervously settled back into her seat, pulling the large seat belt around her armor. Turning on the radar, she noticed two other escape pods close by, like two little comets. One was slowly getting closer. Another first she decided. Then, the other escape pod hit. Skylgier saw her sword fly forward and clang into her control panel as she began to plummet out of control.
Loupe meanwhile was calmly flying down to the surface. On the radar he saw the other two escape pods collide and go out of control.
“Hello, this is Knight Loupe in pod number 399 calling pods 398 and 397 come in!” They were coming closer.
“This is Knight Loupe pods 398 and 397 come in!”
Static filled the cramped space.
“This is Loupe calling 398 and 397! Do you read?!”
Abandoning the radio, Loupe went to his controls to try and maneuver out of their way, but it was too late. The Pod went dark as they hit and they went plummeting to the ground.
