I understand the idea of putting a weapon/shield combo that matches Trojans on special to commemorate the current promo.

But then why not the Sudaruska line? Why was the Triglav line, previously unobtainable by typical means, used instead?

The problem I see here is not just that people's former efforts to attain Triglav have been scorned, but really a lack of integrity from OOO's side. There would be no problem right now if the Triglav line was originally available through normal crafting like everything else, but OOO is the one who decided to force Krogmo coins as the only viable way to go. To go against their own design decision and put it up on Supply Depot is bad enough, but they acknowledge that Triglav is not attained normally by making it simply 200 energy more than the other 5*'s. Yet, considering they knew, then that brings me back to before, why not the Sudaruska line instead?
