Greetings, knights!

It's been around for a while. To all non-steam players, send a mail to my knight, Dreffbuilder if you are interested about joining the PUG! To all steam players, the group link is here

Me and my friend Zanhue are trying something different concerning the people who want to have fun times in LD. We will have some rules in order to maintain a fun Lockdown experience, and the 'puggers' will eventually consist of people who are experienced players of LD. Many of you may also know that some guilds use an alternative guild to get points in LD and get on top of the leaderboards in a sneaky and uncool way. To you guys who would like to see guilds not trying to get on top of the leaderboards, we may form a nice alternative. Also, the idea of Pick-Up-Games is new to Spiral Knights, and we are in an attempt of light-hearted Guild Lockdown between each others, all just for good fun!

It's under development and we have some ideas to manage it better in the future but for now, we'll try and give it a go!
Also, the PUG system is now for both EU and US players Everybody just join the group!
Lets clear things out in the first paragraphs: PUGs are mixed matches of Guild Lockdown. This means that the Guild matches are pretty much basic lockdown with random teams! (This is for people who don't like to read anything too carefully)

General Information and how to be a part of us

  • The Spiral Knights PUG guilds are two sub-guilds, (basically guilds with no players in them full-time, except for the team leaders/captains) which organize Guild Lockdown matches for people who don't have time to be in a guild, or are not in a guild. (Players who are in a guild are welcome too)
  • The guilds have separate leaders in them, that choose players from those who would like to play some matches
  • The PUG guilds are entirely lockdown based and the system works via a steam group. Link to the group is here.
  • The Pick-Up-Game system will work via the steam group at first, but will eventually allow non-group players too, who don't have steam. (This is because the PUG is under development)
  • We will try two guilds first, and the matches are organized between these two guilds. We can also make different Lockdown Teams, so the third and fourth guilds are not necessary. There is no intention to become the #1 guild on the scoreboard, idea is to give players new experiences!
  • When a PUG game occurs, the players are picked RANDOMLY from the players who want to play a match. (It's a PUG, duh...) This will form 'balanced' matches, where there's no complaints about one team only 'spamming' a certain weapon and a vice versa.
  • To play the game, the captains or team leaders invite the players in the guild, and they form a lockdown team. May the best PUGteam win!

Some Rules!

For the best experience, the Warmaster Rocket Hammer and Polaris are BANNED in the PUG games. Why? Because most people complain about these two weapons as they are easy to use, and can ruin matches if used by most of the players. Also, any trinkets of any sort are banned in the PUG matches. The following weapons are also banned: Acheron, Obsidian Edge. All these rules are to make the games as balanced as possible, and fun for everyone.

Some other stuff! (AKA, ideas and other info)

Matches are entirely free, forever! Although, if we intend to do a tournament of any kind, those will be the ones you will have to pay for to enter/play the matches. We will maybe form a form of voice chatting in the future to help coordination among the teams.

The Guilds are called Pug Bashers and Pug Slashers. The Slashers slash the Bashers, and the Bashers bash the Slashers. The inviting alts of the Bashers are Barononeeye and Dreffluf, and the inviting alts of the Pug Slashers are Barontwoeye and Dreffbot. The knights you need to be in contact with most of the time are Zanhue and Dreffbuilder. These are our main knights. This page will also have info of the moderators we are looking to be here while we are not. (Also in the steam group and in other places too!)

Also, Me and Zanhue will work as the team captains at first. We will be needing some moderators, who are able to host a game with the guilds, but that comes in the future and after we get this fully functioning. Original idea was Zanhue's, I'm just the one who's better at writing things in english, so I posted this here.

cool idea!

I was thinking of maybe making one of these if I ever became rich enough to fund and manage two guilds. Good luck, hope it takes off!

If you are charging players for subbing, you are gonna have a bad time.

@ Seiran: Thanks!

@ Theirillusion: The price is just to keep certain players away, like the ones who complain about everything, and also players who haven't experienced LD at all. And there's no price yet! We will keep it free for a pretty long time and maybe add a smaller amount that most of the pug players agree on. After all, we are on one hell of a job to make this happen. And it's not like we're going to keep that money ourselves, it goes for the guild.

Cheers for the comments guys!

I can't really see how a guild treasury donation would be more popular. I for one think guild hall stuff are waste of money.

This has potential, because I think it's a great idea. Although you should use the entering fee to pile up a prize award for things achieved during these PUG matches.

@fee

Well, you guys can kind of keep a list of 'banned' players from the guild, since they're essentially invite-only rooms and charge the fee (or hold guild crown-farming events) when it gets around that time period.

Hmmm

@ Theirillusion: Hmm that could work but we're probably going to think about this and read what most people recommend. That is a good idea and I think me and Zan are gonna give it a deeper thought. Cheers

@ Seiran: We are keeping a list of that for sure. And we can ban people from the group as well.

There's not gonna be much in the actual guildhall, I think at least an auction room and couple of waiting rooms in case it occurs (or if matches are full and there's people who want to pug in the next available match)

Add heart trinkets to the ban list and I'm all for this idea.

@ Battlegrinder

That would make Strikers pretty much useless, as they have got a negative health from normal. Recons have normal health and Guardians have more health than normally. (As you may already know) We don't have other weapon bans for starters than just the Warmaster and the Polaris because those weapons can ruin games. In regular lockdown almost everybody has heart trinkets so I don't think it's causing trouble.

Cheers!

EDIT: Also no matter how much health you have, a Gran Faust is gonna take a pretty nice amount of health from you with its' swings

@Dreffbuilder

Actually, Strikers don't have any debuff. They have normal health, as the negative health is bugged and doesn't apply. Recons have slightly buffed health and Guardians even more so.

How about limiting trinkets to only one? E.g. just one penta, one Purrfect Katnip Pouch, etc. Not one penta and one Purrfect Katnip Pouch, though.

@ This game is so broken

@ Krakob: Oh wow. 1 Health trinket would sound good, as I only use one anyways. As the other trinket I either use a Gun Damage bonus Med one or Attack speed Med for swords. Only one penta sounds good but I'd still at least like to have my other trinket with me. Me and Zan are going to chat about these things very soon. But of course, if this project doesn't launch, then it is too bad and all what we've done will fade with the wind.

I'd like to say again: Join the steam group if you want this to happen! I may not say that enough or then people have excuses for not to join even though they think it's a good idea.

Greetings

Me and Zan have already had an idea about something within the PUG community, which we will take action on at some point after we've been around in the game for a while. We had an idea of having a small competition within the PUG community: The knights who play PUGs form groups of six together, and are put in a ladder to fight for the Best Group of Pugs. ( I don't know it that's a title though). This would mean that if we have a small fee, whatever we gain would be the ultimate prize for the winning team (Also, lots of confetti!)

What do you guys think about a regular competition inside the PUG group? Remember, only people who play PUGs can be a part of the 6 man groups, so people can't form groups from their own guilds and possibly have to learn to teamwork together with random people. I think it sounds interesting and would be a lot of fun!

Please leave comments and creative response if you have feedback!

And furthermore, We will wait for a couple of more weeks and then decide whether to continue or throw it down. I could say that we are seeking for 50 people to start with at least, but the more the merrier!

Cheers guys!
Dreffy

I'll comment on the viability of making it into a tourney after we actually have played your format.
As reaffirmed by the 'already' in first sentence, you're running ahead of yourselves.

Cheers.
