You're a 5* Vanguard. You're filthy rich. All dreams perished. When you are below 5*, you dream of being a vanguard - a Knight in shining armor if you will. However, once you reach vanguard your main goals have died. That was the mistake I did to my main character.

Do not fall and think reaching vanguardhood is the pinnacle of your Spiral Knights goals! Think of the rest - experiment with weapons, become a merchant, found a guild that is constantly chatting, create bright ideas (tell people about Arcade stratums without having to walk to the Arcade [my weather idea I had before].. ), create fun activities for the public (trivias, hunts, races, contests / competitions, quests, errands, playerhunts [talk to specific players to get clues on which player to find next, leading to an end of some sort].. , 1v1 PvP setups, et cetera), and anything you can think of.

I have noticed every player who is not a vanguard dreams of becoming a vanguard, and thus, upon reaching vanguardhood, they then have nothing to do left for them. So take these words in heed. Play Spiral Knights for the fun of it, not just focusing on reaching endgame!

This is the exact reason why I've hardly paid a single cent toward this game, except for the GA pack and a few bundles of energy. Since then I've exhausted that energy pool, but it helped me get to my Vanguard status. Currently I have almost no money, but that's okay because it gives me a bit of a challenge. Currently I'm grinding for a Voltedge, a Sudaruska, a Shadowsun Set, and an Acheron.

So I'm kept busy even though I've been a Vanguard for quite a while. Not everyone has your problem.

Excuse you, I still have dreams and goals for myself.

I still haven't unboxed aura from a lockbox so I can spam trade request to merchants and mock them saying it could be done.
I'm still working towards getting every single gunslinger related piece of equipment in game. The update is gonna tear me a new one.

Also, You act as if people can't do fun activities(with friends) as a vanguard. Only thing we're lacking is a more fleshed out story.

Welp.

This is where you sir, are very, VERY wrong.

I'm a vanguard and even though im "Endgame" i still have ton of fun, boatloads even!
(i'm also filthy stinkin poor, not all endgames are rich, just some/most)
I focused on getting to endgame status, im here now, and i still have many things to do.
I just recently picked up a Magnus for the first time. i immediately fell so far, so deeply in love. Even though the gun is kinda poop, i still enjoy running arcade runs and getting the occasional kill with my little Maggie The Magnus. I can't wait for her to get buffed.

As far as goals go, i still have goals that ive set as a wittle recruit, like be a status bomb support bomber, which is something i haven't really seen many do. I dunno why, support is the most fun role in alot of games imo, just from the feeling of accomplishment, dedication, and making things much easier for your team after a job well done.

As Dermog said, not everyone has your particular problem, all you have to do is get a little creative, and this game will entertain for hours, days even.

There has to be a "dead end"

There has to be a "dead end" somewhere along the road. The only way there couldn't be "endgame" is if there was an infinite amount of content, which would be impossible.

well, i guess when you get everything in the game with perfect three uv's, and have maxed out crowns and ce, i guess that is the end

You are doing it bad if you think that Vanguard is the endgame of SK, I agree with Welux.
I mean you have Shadow Lairs, Operation Crimson Hammer, Danger Missions and a list about crafting new weapons/armor to know which is the best and experience with them

I have 1.9million crowns and 782 Almirian Seals.

Been working for 1000 seals for over a year now (with month+ long breaks a couple times a year).

It is fun joining easier depths and helping some new peeps.

From how players talk on these forums, it is clear that many of them don't actually enjoy the act of playing Spiral Knights. Rather, they enjoy the sense of progress that they feel, as their character improves. Unless you count hunting for exotic UVs and accessories, which can go on for a long time, the progress has to end.

Please don't found another guild. There are already too many. Instead, work on a guild that already exists. On than that, I agree with the original poster.

The crusade to rid this forum of whiny weaklings and happiness zealots will go on and I am not about to give up.

900 hours worth of in game playing time combine with countless hours spent making fan arts and fan fics on forums proves that SK is more than just a game to me. It is a part of my life now, a peaceful(outter) heaven to shelter from the real world that has nothing to offer (well, not 'nothing', but still, I think you catch my drift)

Saying that Vanguard is end of game is shallow.

Games are not to get goals. Games are to get fun. Before Spiral Knights had missions, people had fun and still have fun. I'm playing that game for over two years and I don't care about goals. I have my friends, and we have fun.
