Dear Spiral Knight Forum-dwellers,

Greetings, my name is Dmatter. I am here to bring to you a topic that I feel should be discussed much more than it currently is. This topic has baffled me, along with others for time long past. This is a serious topic and should be taken seriously, for I feel that upon proclaiming one TRUE answer will bring us much closer to understanding the universe. The question is as follows:

How does one pronounce "Eurydice"'s name?

I, myself, have been pronouncing it you-re-dice, but my brother, a silly man, pronounces it you-re-die-see. I have high hopes this topic shall be able to come to a swift and sound conclusion.

Sincerely and seriously,

Dmatter.

Names should be read in context of their origin language.

Eurydice is a Greek name.

If I were to use 'short' vowels to sound it out, it would be:

Yu-RI-di-sii

@Seiran: Spiral Knights

@Seiran: Spiral Knights aren't Greek though. So what's the spiral knight pronunciation and enunciation?

@Sleepy-Hollows
All the Three Rings GM names (at least between Puzzle Pirates and Spiral Knights) are names of Greek gods, so with that context, I'd say use those pronunciations.

Also, for those who can't read the pronounciation syntax from the wikipedia link
/jʊˈrɪdɨsi/ --> "yu RE di sii",

but the Greek google translation pronounces it as "E ru de kii" :P

Speaking of Eury, has anyone seen her recently? It's like she vanished or something :<

Unless she's been going undercover in her ninja training, then it all makes sense.

In America, we make our own pronunciations, slang, words, whatever! Sky is the limit!

By the way, not completely related to this discussion, but

Valiance is : "Va li ans"

Certain people pronounce it as "Vei lens".

You know who you are.

The same way that Valiance is

The same way that Valiance is pronounced "va-li-ans", Eurydice should be pronounced "you-REE-dis".

Seiran, however has a point. I believe the original pronounce would be "ÉU-ru-dik".

If Eury isn't being held captive, then it must be Cronus who is being held hostage >_>

The cerebral pinnacle of thricenicity undermines the kulling ghytredas of drenysteroe. I can rest in fallhard triumph reminiscing my kinetic forces of propagational motion. With red eye quantum bell matter, it is legiscally pundrant to claim I progress. Seeing my statement is correct, I may umersinate the progylthenic tryesadel to say, Yōō-rē-dē-sê.

Just saw this now. Eurydice

Just saw this now. Eurydice is pronounced "yu-RIH-dih-see" in English. In Ancient Greek, it's more like "eu-ROO-dee-kay," sorta.

Of course, you can pronounce it however you want. My favorite improvisation so far is "Urine Dice."

This is how it is pronounced: Eurydice.

And simply: Aphrodite.

It is pronounced like that.

No other way. Aphrodite. Simple. Eurydice. Simple as well.
