Pet skills should be usable while doing other things

Like for example, when you're already shooting / swinging, or holding a charge, you should be able to use pet skills. Otherwise I don't really see the point of waiting for the drakon to finish using his fire blast to kill something when I could just as easily attack something once or twice for pretty much the same damage output. I don't know about other pets, but my drakon is level 100 but still feels pretty useless to me

It's like battle sprites are part of you instead of being a separate thing. When I first heard of battle sprites, I thought it would be like pets in dungeon defenders (a flying animal of some sort following you around all the time), where they occasionally attack by themselves when enemies come close. I'm not saying I want or expect that, but I just feel that the sprites aren't really pets, just a cosmetic that occasionally sets something on fire when I bother to use its skills at all (usually I don't).

They'd have to rework Sprites completely. A neat idea, but they're already saddled with the loss of Nick and such.

They wouldn't actually have to rework much at all, I don't think. Just make it so that pressing ability buttons works at any time and does not force your knight into an action and animation as it does currently.

+1 although it may cause some problems, like what if you use Maskeraith cloak while you have a weapon charged?

@Sandwich-Potato
No, they need to rework the controls. I mean, seriously! You can't even switch your weapon midcombat, switching will be postponed until all those reload animations end - and if you keep pressing the attack button, you will be firing the same weapon! How messed up is that?

I mean that if you want to change this, you'd have to fundamentally recode a lot of the game, and they're already down a developer.

You wouldn't have to recode everything, this seems like a simple fix. Sprites didn't used to exist, they have to have been incorporated in a changeable way.

@Vindicar - Think about how much sense switching weapons mid-reload actually makes. (hint: none at all)

Please do this.

I have to have a weapon equipped to make my sprite even do anything.

Sprite only runs aren't a thing right now. :(

Also, angelic aura + bombing. Really annoying to have to stop when doing that.

@Klipik-Forum

I mean that when you command your Sprite to do something, it has to play an animation. When your character is doing something like attacking, it's also an animation. Think about how you can't use Confetti while holding a Snowball.

As I said before, just make sprites not force an animation. I can't imagine it's that complicated. (Anyone from OOO feel free to correct me on this)

I'm not sure how feasible coding this would be. But it'd be a mostly welcome change in my opinion.

Many of the sprite skills are on par with just flat out attacking them, and there isn't much reason to use them-- like fireball. If you use fireball, you can't use your sword/gun for a second or so. This makes it challenging to find a place for- should I use the fireball? Or just charge up my gun and shoot that? Or should I just shoot normally? And in the end, behaving normally and not worrying about the fireball tends to win out.

Other skills would be way too strong with this. Take for example the blitz needle-- if I run up and charge attack vanaduke head on, I deserve to take damage. But if I can use a sprite skill like seraphynx's aura skill while I'm firing my blitz needle, then there are effectively no repercussions. That said, the only really broken skills would be the above mentioned aura skill and mask's invisibility skill. All of the others would be fine.

So perhaps apply this to everything but those 2 skills?

I'm not sure about how the aura works, but from what I've seen it temporarily blocks all damage. Isn't someone able to charge up after they've activated the aura? Or does it last too short? As for invisibility, it could just get broken automatically if the user happens to be charging. Also about the aura, I don't think it would be that broken since someone would have to wait a minute before being able to use it again. Either Vanaduke will be dead by then, or they likely won't survive until the next time the aura comes off cooldown if they need it to fight.

You are experiencing a PICNIC ERROR!

Firebolt is good when you're running or chasing something. You cannot use your sword but you don't slow down. It's also good when you only have 2 weapons and one of them is a bomb. You want a gun sometimes without carrying one, ya know?

I'm not sure what I think about using sprites just willy-nilly. What I think is that you should be able to use it while shielding, but nothing else. Then I could shoot a fireball without putting my guard down.

I don't think implementation is an issue. That doesn't mean it's likely to happen though. There's like a gazillion beneficial, easy to implement, tweaks that OOO has not decided to do.
We don't even know what they're doing at any point in time. For all we know, they could have been developing a big update, then scrapped it at the last minute due to something that came up.
