shock, fire, freeze

That's nice. I myself would like to get shock, fire, and freeze.

Why freeze?

Normal max is an OK uv. If I had to rank them all from best to worst, I'd probably go..

Fire/Shock = overcoming these is the best thing of all time
Shadow = a large amount of shadow defense would be good for pairing the item with mercurial items on shadow levels
Normal = would help if I paired the item with divine mantle, otherwise not so much.
Stun = alright. Resistance to stun would be nice but not necessary. Really future proofing if anything.
Piercing/Elemental = trying to make the item into something it just isn't. Would only help situationally.
Poison/Freeze = worthless status resistances most of the time. No need to overcome these
Curse = hardly even in the game

@Fehzor

Why you no rank sleep?

Because it is impossible to get a sleep UV on the black kat cowl, as it was released after sleep UVs were removed from punch.

But isn't sleep currently a status effect not harbored by any monster at the moment?

It would probably outrank curse resistance to be honest.

Black kat cowl does not have negative sleep resistance, so it would be the greatest item ever for it if a sleep level came out. The cowl has negative curse resistance on the other hand, and there are much better items with curse resist for undead/fiends of varying sorts. Namely chaos and heavenly iron/valkyrie/divine sets. Chaos has only negative med curse resistance, which means that curse UVs will be able to become positive (getting +1/2 from a UV makes it much easier to get to +5 or +10, which allow good things to happen). Heavenly iron and valkyrie and divine set on the other hand can be used to gain large amounts of defense AND curse resistance, as well as other various resistances that are useful enough. A sleep UV would almost certainly be worth more on the item than trying to fight the item's stats.

freeze

I'm assuming that a freeze UV, on an item that already has freeze, legitimately adds to the freeze protection. Isn't that so?

Frequently I want somewhere around freeze+11 resistance, and I don't want to use my sprite perk to get it.

I re-purposed mine to be a quirky piercing helm.

Pierce High Black Kat + Pierce Max Justifier = somewhere around a standard 4* or possibly low level 5* pierce set.

^According to Zeddy's thread (I would like to test these results ffor myself, but I'll have to take his word for it), you are blocking an extra 7 or so damage from piercing weapons in LD. Quite useless, normal is better.

@OP Nice roll, go use it to laugh as valiance users while tearing them up :)

I didn't know this was one of 'those' threads.

^Neither did I! If this is for lockdown, I don't think my UV rankings would apply.

@Bopp

It does, and it can help you get to +11 if you so desire. I'd much much rather have some other UV though, as its easy enough to pair it up with a freeze resistant bottom piece, given how cheap and easy freeze UVs are to come by. The real thing though is that positive status resistance on glass cannon armor = become the greatest.

right

That's what I meant. I do not have, but I am working toward...
* Black Kat Cowl with fire+4, shock+4 (and freeze+4)
* Chaos Cloak with fire+4, shock+4
* Snarbolax/Skolver with fire+4, shock+4 (and freeze+4)
I want as much fire and shock protection as I can get, obviously. Freeze is a little different, as it tends to be more "all or nothing". So I don't simply want lots of freeze; I specifically want freeze+11 or so. So I wear BKC+Chaos, unless I'm worried about freeze. Then I wear BKC+Snarbolax/Skolver, and one of those should have a big freeze UV on it.

I haven't looked into buying new items with freeze UVs recently. Thanks for the tip.

P.S. As soon as I complete my plan, Three Rings will rebalance the items.
