Ok, so I decided today was going to be the day to see if Spiral Knights ever started working again for Steam users. Looks like it doesn't. I've been pretty disappointed because I haven't gotten online in about 8 months... I did a little researching and found a couple bugs and things that fix it. Ok, so many users have trouble as it is just opening the game. Well its Steam overlay blocking it as of now. You need to turn this off. Go to the top left-hand corner of your Steam client and click "Steam". Next open "Settings" and go into the tab listed as "In-Game" and uncheck "Enable the Steam Overlay while In-Game". What this will do is allow you to open Spiral Knight and keep the game client open. After, I'm not sure because it displays the message "Either there is a temporary network outage or the server is not yet fully operational. Please wait a moment before reconnecting". That is where I am stuck. I had been wondering if Steam Users were knocked out of the accessability to the server or its completely down as of now. I think all other online users can get on though. I made an extra Temp account and tried to get online but the error online users were having earlier is happening to myself. They are saying "I begin downloading the game and it hops a couple of times up to 70% and gets stuck right there". I got to 71% and that was final. So I imagine that the GM's and the Admins are working on this and trying to get a new patch out. Still, for Steam Users, the game is unaccessable and you cannot fully log into the game itself. You can only keep the game open and fool with controls and whatnot. If somebody has any idea if or how we may get into the game I'd love to hear back from you. Hope this helps!
PS- Im working on trying to figure out ways to fix these bugs and should be finished eventually! -Freezus
You seem to list down a lot of problems.
No.1 Steam Overlay does seem to have problems with certain users, though I'm not completely certain what triggers it. My steam overlay is fine. I would come to assume that there are either technological limitations or firewall blocking that causes the Steam bootstrapper program to crash, preventing the game from continuing its operation.
No.2 If you're experiencing the network outage problem, it would most likely be true that you have not updated your game, therefore the servers your program requests does not exist and therefore it could not connect. If continuously closing and opening the app does not trigger the installation, then manually uninstall and reinstall to fix it.
No.3 The part where people get stuck on the updater is also mysterious to me. My conjecture is that validation has failed and the app just stop() without any other actions performed. The most common issue will definitely be an elevation request, so I was also wondering if running the app with admin permissions help.
