I'm a Defender Elite, and i've completed every mission so far on elite.

So lets have one more difficulty...
Swarmed.

Swarmed difficulty basically turns every level into a shadow lair.
Bosses stay the same, they are not in respective shadow lair form.
All statusless monsters are void.
Swarm boxes like in the final level of Spark and Roar will fly around the level.
The depth will be ???.
Basil will not be in the mission lobby, and the depth will also be ???.
Unlocked after completing 1 shadow lair.
Levels before subtowns/terminals/core are unknown passages.

Some things:

Q: Why unlocked after completing a shadow lair?
A: This is practice mode.

Q: If it's meant to be like a shadow lair, shouldn't it be Stratum 6 in every level?
A: No. This would cause easy excessive farming for vanguards, making the game less fun for them.

Q: Why is the depth ???
A: In a shadow lair, The depth is ???.

Q: What is in the last level of Spark and Roar?
A: Go find out. However, the black boxes are pieces of the swarm just flying around in the clockworks.

Q: Why wont basil be in the mission lobby?
A: Its depth ???. Basil can't go down there...

I agree that the game is too easy with not enough rewards, but what would warrant this over simply redoing the existing difficulty system?

Move over, there's bubble-wrap to be popped!

Call it Swarmed difficulty and remove the 45k prestige you get from completing just ONE mission

badge

i think he meant how theres a bronze shield, silver with one sword or gold with 2 crossed swords as an icon on the mission depending which difficulty you beat it at (highest one) but then put the icon that is used for that prestige badge there (not actually giving you 45k prestige instantly)

still maybe make it so you can get the prestige again if you do shadow missions but again only once

This would be interesting.

I love building on ideas, so here goes nothing!:

This difficulty mode would be unlocked after completing at least one shadow lair. Perhaps it would unlock based on the tier of the boss you fought (Fight rabid snarby for tier 1 access to the difficulty, ice queen/red roarmy for tier 2, and Darkfire Vanaduke for tier 3 access).

Every box in "Swarmed" difficulty is a red treasure box(and loot values would be equal to two strata higher), and all "standard" enemies (I.E., statusless) are replaced by the swarm version of themselves. (Dust zombies would become void zombies, jelly cubes would become the void lichens, etc.), and every void enemy would inflict strong curse as their status value. Void enemies would not drop any hearts or consumables. Turrets would have a 50% chance to be replaced by an indestructible swarm turret, unless they are in a battle room. (Alternatively, have swarm turrets not need to be killed to progress the wave) Swarm seeds would randomly spawn in place of healers.

If you really wanted to get devious, add a phantom or lost souls into the mix. Also, every enemy has 15% more health than elite mode.
Good luck in the swarmed firestorm citadel.

Eah...

The new edits have sort of taken a bit of fun out of it.

Swarmed difficulty basically turns every level into a shadow lair.
To be expected.
You can't revive.
This is a big no-no. Shadow lairs are hard and supposed to kill you a lot. Not being able to revive is a big slap to the face of many players, especially since you go on to say that players unable to complete a shadow lair should use this as practice. If they can't complete a shadow lair, then they wouldn't be able to complete more than three levels on this difficulty.
Bosses stay the same, they are not in respective shadow lair form
Respectable. Shadow lair bosses are for those lairs only.
All enemies are respectively void.
This is another no-no. There are no fiends in the unknown passage, and all void monsters are stripped of certain attacks, as they are designed for the unknown passage. Statusless monsters should be void, while status monsters should remain.
Swarm boxes like in the final level of Spark and Roar will fly around the level
Swarm bits could leak out of pipes and places around the clockworks, yes. Not really needed.
The depth will be ???
No arguments here.
Basil will not be in the mission lobby, and the depth will also be ???
No arguments here.
Everything is considered Stratum 6, the final stratum
Here I say no. In my previous post I say that strata should be the current strata plus 2 in terms of rewards and payout. Odd strata always have less payout than even strata, so this would keep that idea rolling instead of being able to run through 29 depths of constant amazing payout. Seriously, reward-wise, we vanguards could run a cradle-and-all run and easily make 42,000 in a single run. Granted it wouldn't exactly be easy, but it seems a bit excessive.
One thing I should ask about this is how the depths would work, radiant-wise. Shadow lairs, and even here take place at depth ???. Would radiant fire crystals drop?
Unlocked after unlocking tier 3
As I said before, if this is going to be as punishing as a shadow lair, then make players have to complete a shadow lair to know what they're up against. If this is supposed to be training for a shadow lair, then it needs to be less punishing than a shadow lair.

Here's another idea: levels before subtowns and the core will always be an unknown passage.

Beware-The-Reboot

Good idea.

But rather than doing all this, can't we just change it to make ALL A.I have tracking abilities and call it "Intense"?

This is sort of just a damage buff to already buffed mobs. maybe nerf some of the stats and add smarter A.I?
