This rough draft of a suggestion is being given in case alliances are ever made official.
Skipping the processes of how two guilds form their alliance, one should be able to travel between guilds through other guilds.
Similar to the door of the training room, guild mates ought to be able to travel from one guild to another. In those respects, visitation becomes a little more refined. Instead of either opening a guild to the public or not, the GMs (and maybe the Officers) would have the authority to say who is allowed entry into their guild and who is not. Meaning it should boil down from the public at large, the public who has been given entry into an allied guild, and allies to guild mates only.
I thought of this was with some ideal guild-hosted events in mind. Let us say that one knight wanted to extend an event beyond the membership of their own guild. They could reach out to other guilds as needed. Another reason is for the facilitation of different purposes, if that was both possible and needed. Providing that one wanted to build different divisions of their guild and then join them, they could do so without having to exit to the Garrison and enter again.
In case a guild should go into Default, the listing will be neither visible nor available for entry until the issue is solved. At the same time the alliance will exist. This is done to prevent anyone from appearing behind the gates that restrict members from passing through. And finally, no travel can be done between guilds without that room (which I have yet to name). Otherwise, the alliance simply exists in name as noted somewhere through the workings of the control room.
Besides, even a guild that has fully opened up can feel a little cramped in my opinion.
