Why? Because it discourages potential buyers from the promo and less buyer means less money for spiral knights. This would have been some what acceptable if the boxes where acquired with every 10 dollars purchase but not for buying it directly yourself.

Let think about the last promo, it had unique items similar to this promo except it some of the percentages out of any prize box. So why suddenly bring back a promo (with one new item) with horrible odds.

Spiral knights is a great game, it just has expanded in the right areas. If funding is an issue I'm sure the community will be will to help in investing in the game so as long we get something worth while in return.

Why not allow they player to

Why not allow they player to have a choice regarding the inclusion of these items in the boxes? If the ticketed boxes sell more then keep them, if the non-ticketed ones sell more than keep those.

What's the production cost of prize boxes anyway?

@Holy-Nightmare: " If the ticketed boxes sell more then keep them, if the non-ticketed ones sell more than keep those."

That's using a blind marketer's reasoning. If ticketed boxes sell more because of the tickets, it's quite clearly because the tickets afflict pressured desperation on the players seeking to obtain the advertised content, they do not do it for the tickets. This sort of disservice eventually results in dividing the customers closer to the half or beyond, which is bad.

Items that can be obtained via common means in the game that don't pertain to a prize box's theme logically should appear as second-hand bonuses, not stand-alone inclusions. I believe people have been over this sort of discussion numerous times by now.

It was fine before, but now...

This is pretty much why we changed off the energy bonus method. And as of now, the tickets are most definitely a rip-off, which is sad. I could buy energy to convert to crowns and get the same amount of UV tickets, if not more. 1-UV tickets are not worth $5 a box. For promos that contain tickets, we should revert to the old method of energy bonuses. For promos that contain new costumes and accessories, we can use the $5/box method that is in place.

@Fangel exactly my point

If this where an energy purchase promo I would mind at all because i'd would still have at least 3500 energy from the purchase it the worst case scenario however right now the wort case scenario I get something worth 20,000 crowns.

I was actually ready to buy (still am willing if they actually listen and remove the uv tickets) prize boxes until I checked an sow that there was still a 70% chance of getting a UV ticket. I might have been more willing if the the possibility for uv ticket were 40% total because then I have a good chance to get something unique to this box.

I am really certain that there are lots of people who want to buy a box but don't want to risk getting a uv ticket. I also don't see the point in making these thing super rare, it benefit no one .

I have studied much in economic but I do know that the values of supply and demand only really work with physical objects not with something digital.

Tickets please!

I have to agree with this, not that I buy many boxes, but I liked it when it was boxes given alongside energy. They encouraged new players to actually buy the energy, so they get the incentive of a shiny box with it. But when a box only gives me a UV ticket and not some crazy over the top sword that sparkles, it's a genuine waste of money. :(

The original incentive with boxes was that you bought energy, and were given a 'free' prize box (or more) for your purchase. If they set up the system so you could buy boxes straight out, or buy them with energy for less boxes, I'd be happy to always pick the latter.

I still do love the new way of doing this.

I do, in fact, love the new system of prize boxes. When I bought boxes I wanted the new and unique items in the boxes. However, when the boxes are almost entirely unique variant tickets, I am not getting my money's worth unless I unbox a 3-UV ticket. Now if we unboxed energy alongside unique variants, that would be fine. But if I am paying 1,600 energy's worth from my wallet for an item that isn't even worth 300 energy, that's just not good marketing. Heck, a 2UV ticket isn't even worth the money.

In short, with a 8000 crown to 100 energy ratio, each prize box should contain the following:
7 1-UV tickets (~18.3k crowns per ticket)
2 2-UV tickets (~64k crowns per ticket)
1 3-UV ticket. (~128k crowns for the ticket)

The 3-UV ticket could be a rare item that would be sought after. Why? Because you're getting a little under half off for 3 UVs! At the same time, it brings people into the UV rolling area, which gets them invested in it. Make the 7 1-UV tickets still as common honestly. If you want to get people interested in Punch, there's no better way than to give them a fair amount of tickets that they want to spend. They're likely to sink some crowns into him after seeing what he can do.

One fancy Kats personal

One fancy Kats personal opinion:

UV tickets in a prize box? Absolutely ZERO chance of me buying it. Let some one else throw their money down the hole, it ain't gonna be me.

But.. but cut price 2/3UV tickets? No thanks, I don't want to have to go through the hassle of trying to find elite players to sell it to - even more so because tickets can't be listed on the AH.

Use 2/3 UV tickets myself? No way, just because the game prices them at 75k/225k doesn't mean I value them at those numbers. Exponential costs combined with diminishing returns from the 2nd/3rd UV? Abandon all hope ye who enter here. Only the absolute top tier of players should even consider engaging in such activity; spending a small fortune to slap a couple of miserable bonuses on your gear so you can convince yourself your items are 'unique'? Hell no, I'm not "Drinking the Kool-Aid". [See also: Heat Amps]
