Evil gangs of gremlin have painted graffiti on a large number of the knight's walls! But we don't know what kind of paint it is and the only forseeable way to tell is to have you, the knight, stand watch over the wall while it dries, timing it. You must make sure that you time exactly how long it takes to dry, which must be within 15 minutes when timed and is always a time between 7 and 10 hours.

Occasionally, the gremlins will send a spy in the form of a single gremlin knocker to make sure that the knights aren't bothering their paint job. The knight must be quick with their blade to deal with such a devious tactic, or else face the consequences of slacking off!

Each graffiti, when finished viewing (the knight will know, as Spiral HQ will call them with impeccable timing) will have a chance (~.25%) at completing the dataset, which when done will reward the player randomly with:

  • Gremlin Paint Shroud
  • Gremlin Paint Cloak
  • Both items will have the following stats:

  • Piercing + shadow defense, same as Radiant Silvermail
  • Negative freeze, poison, curse and stun resistances by -2
  • Positive fire and shock by +4
  • CTR all low
  • MSI med
  • Damage for all low
  • Asi for all low
  • For no apparent reason, knights will be able to watch other graffitis dry in hopes of getting the full set, once they've "solved" the problem a first time.

After the event ends, the grass watching event can begin in ~a month, so yes.

How to deal with gremlin knockers in any number.

    Step one: take out nitronome
    Step two: plant nitronome
    repeat until mission is over

I'm sure the knight will have plenty of time to think of innovative ways to kill the single knockers that spawn randomly every five to forty minutes.

    @Aviri

I'm actually not trolling you, I just think that the players (myself included) would appreciate more interesting events with more user-friendly odds than the black kat event.

    ._.

you expect knights to stare at a grafitti for... 7-10 hours? wha? noe, this isn't... YOU MUST BE TROLLING!

unless i got it wrong and you mean that this takes 15 minutes, but since you said that a gremling knocker would spawn every 5-40 mins i am kind of confused

But to know how long the paint takes to dry, we would need to know when it was applied... which means we would have to know exactly when a gremlin was in the location being graffiti'd equipped with spray paint... which means Spiral HQ would have been able to apprehend the graffiti-ers in the act, before the paint could even be fully applied. Furthermore, the gremlins would have to be carrying their painting materials with them, which means we could identify them without having to perform such tests as watching paint dry. Even if the gremlins had forseen this possibility and used unmarked paint containers, Spiral HQ has sufficient resources in the Lab to test the chemical makeup of the paints, and when cross-referenced with the complete list of Crimson Order Paint Production Facilities and Products as obtained from defectors in Emberlight, enough data should be produced to conclude not only what type of paint was used, but also where it was manufactured, what its intended use was, and the optimal way to remove it from any previously graffiti'd surfaces. Your event proposal is illogical.

    @Klipik

Well plot holes don't really matter because the stupid MMO players will all just farm the event for the item regardless of what's happening. But since you ask-

    1. Spiral HQ caught them on a security camera that was then destroyed by the gremlins, and will add your time to the total at the end.

    2. It was dark and the knights couldn't make out what kind of chemical compounds were in the paint.

    3. Spiral HQ is completely incompetent, and must wait for the player to show up before they can set up their goofy energy turrets and wait a second time for the player to handle the situation.

    4. Emberlight didn't know about it because it was the crimson order, who painted their logo- a plain red texture.

Also they're going to charge you energy to watch the paint dry. Because that's basically what happens in SK.

Am I trying too hard? I think I'm trying too hard.

    1. If the camera was destroyed, how do they know how long it recorded for?

    2. You couldn't figure that out on sight anyway, but I guess you also wouldn't be able to see the label on the paint can, if there was one.

    3. Hold on, if spiral HQ has an entire team if turrets and guards set up, why can't one if the guards watch the paint instead of us? If they told us explicitly what to do, it stands to reason a guard is equally well-equipped for the job and player-Knights are better served doing more dangerous work.

    4. If the Emberlight gremlins don't know what paints are available to the gremlins, how would knowing how long the paint takes to dry help determine what kind of paint it was? If SHQ is as incompetent as you previously mentioned, combined with the fact that Knights are not native to cradle (yes, cradle is artificial nothing is native to it, whatever, "relative newcomers" then) we do not know what paints are available. Someone who knows what all the different kinds of paint are would have to be brought in as an expert consultant. And it obviously can't be strangers, look at haven - nothing is painted!

Also, I have some suggestions for shoring up some other plot holes in your OP.

-the Knocker is replaced with a Ghostmane Stalker (T1 because haven), who is better equipped to handle such a dangerous and vitally important espionage mission.

-There were several different types of paint used in the vandalizations, so once the Knight gets the time on his graffiti there is a chance of it being a newly discovered paint type (you get rewards) or a previously known one (you get nothing).

    And a few additional suggestions:

-instead of HQ calling to tell you the paint is dry (full of plot holes), instead the player should have to check whether the paint is dry or not themselves. This is done by walking up to the wall and inspecting it (interact, atk button), which brings up a screen showing an I image of the current state of the paint. The player will have to judge based on the brightness of the glare whether the paint is dry or not, which can be a difference of as low as 1 CYMK color ID number. If they guess wrong and the paint is in fact still wet, the entire process will be ruined by touching the graffiti and the knight will be fined 6000CE for desecration of public property and impeding military procedure, as the process now has to be restarted on a different graffiti and hope of removing the graffiti from this particular wall may have been lost forever, thanks to your blunder.

-And a Spray Paint Bottle bomb that's the first mist bomb to deal multiple statuses: poison (don't inhale paint), stun (oh god spray paint in the eyes) and fire (irritation from getting spray painted). .1% chance of getting it as a reward, as 1/1000 gremlin vandals left their paint cans behind.

and love is all that I need <69

Well we want to frustrate the player as long as we can with the event.. not entertain them. So no, fighting stalkers is out of the question. Players might find enjoyment with that. Similarly, plot holes are really more of a necessity than anything, as they add an air of requisite despondence that can act to frustrate players further. The thoughts you're thinking are exactly the sort of thoughts we want endgame players to ponder over while they watch the paint dry for no good reason.

The paint bomb would work well though.
