I hate the way my inventory is listed and no matter which option I choose to change the order its still not the way I want it. So I was thinking maybe by clicking+dragging the items around we could manually organize it!

its in general an already perfect idea, and they already have a gear drag thing
(open the equipment member and drag to swap weps)

Perhaps, instead of a "Sort by: Custom", the player can create "Groups" (Not sure if this would mean you can sort them into groups anyway you like or if you can only put swords in sword groups and the like, but it would be nice to sort items by star, especially if there were sub-groups (1 Star -> Sword -> Red Saber))

Agreed to Cetren's idea. it's simple, it works.
Having a "Sort by: Custom" layout would be neat, where it takes the current layout then allows for us to move things around.
