this first one I've stated before most likely from a different account that is my brother's

bounty hunting missions
requires that you go on one of the gates and changes for tiers based on rank and you have to go look for a certain monster(s) and beat them or get certain items off them that you could turn in for prestige
*stupid idea onto it - a really hard mission of this and if you actually get the person you're looking for you get $$$ or some CE

monster slayer
have you slay a certain amount of different monster in the arcade in maybe a certain amount of time

Recon missions
This is a stealth based mission and you would be infiltrating a gremlin base/jelly palace/ or a fiends work office It would be like metal gear but you will be forced to equip the recon gear from lock down (or do hard mode and do it with out it..) and this cases you are trying to go against kill enemies because when they see you, you'll need to slay them as fast as you can or else they would run off and bring a unbelievable amount of reinforcements(chance to bring in the green jelly for the jelly palace one) and they could kill you in a few hits or something

Speed run mission
you could be chased by something (from any class really) or a bomb is going to go off(gremlins) or you need to delivered an auto turret to some knights before they are over powered from an enemy surprise attack this would use the speed gear from lock down(I forgot what it is called) or hard mode for more prestige with out it

guardian missions/escort missons
you would have the guardian gear and you have to escort some knights, strangers, or an ally and if they die you would have to use a spark or restart the mission (or they could use the old revive system for this mission) and you get the guardian gear from lock down or hard mode with out it.

Hm.

Bounty missions sound doable. Would be more something like "Go to this level and return with X items".

Slayer missions sound doable, but would be more of a "Complete this level" opposed to anything else.

Recon missions would be super fun, but current implementation or the suggested version seems a bit... Not Spiral Knights-like. Players should have to scout out levels with nothing but a Recon shield, and maybe some sort of tool gun/autogun. This prevents players from just clearing out levels for money, and makes it so if you're caught you're, well, caught. At the end of the level there is an elevator that brings you to a room full of treasure boxes. This is to make up for the money you didn't get from slaughtering the floor.

Speed run missions should not have you use the striker boost. Players should instead have a long level, similar to after you defeat the battlepod on the second depth of Operation: Crimson Hammer. A long level where players are rushing through an environment would be pretty fun, but I'd prefer it to be more intense by not being able to just zip away from the threats. Also, monsters drop more loot, and there's treasure boxes at the end like the recon mission, however if you're caught in this sort of level you are simply booted back to Haven without any rewards and get the mission failed jingle.

Escort missions already exist in Spiral Knights... The NPCs just are terrible and usually aren't really required to complete the level. No need for a guardian shield.

Yep.

I remember your bounty hunter mission post.
I seem to remember something like this: You enter the elevator for this bounty hunter mission and get sent to either a subtown (Emberlight or Moorcroft Manor) or a clockworks terminal. In the depths from that starting point to the next subtown or Terminal is a specific and easily recognizible monster (either from size, coloring, effects around it) that has either been causing trouble for knights in that stratum or has vital information that Spiral HQ wants. So you find the monster, either kill it in a rather difficult battle (like a black kat or something more difficult) and it will drop maybe tokens (forge, grim, or primal sparks and possibly a new bounty hunter token) and a lot of crowns or something. The elevator at the end of the level will take you to a room of treasure boxes that will be a fine reward.
Comments on this addition to that idea: I think that turning in items for prestige is a bad idea. Prestige means nothing except a little badge next to your knight's name at the moment and I don't think that it will be worth much more in the foreseeable future. I do however think that a more challenging version of the bounty hunter mission that is challenging enough regardless of gear (if that is possible) to be rewarded with a sizable amount of crowns and/or energy is a wonderful idea that should be worked with and made part of the game.

Monster Slayer sounds like a mini-game (not that that is bad...) and not a mission. I think that a time limit would be appropriate for that mini game though.

@Fangel Your ideas to make the recon mission more challenging and forcing you to not be found out are good.
Now here are mine: With that tool gun you can unlock doors that allow you into the next section of the level, but you have to wait some time for the device to finish working. This will add some more challenge I think, especially if the recon cloak has a time limit on it. I think that the recon levels should have the light security system like "The Collector" mission has (rockets are dropped on you after you step in the light of a hallway light). [EDIT]: Also in the gremlin-themed fortress, have the recon knight battle some Ghostmane Stalkers. That would be "fun" and certainly a challenge.

Also your ideas about the speed run mission are great. I just don't see how a knight would find out that the monsters drop more loot because you are running away from them. Will you have to fight through some to make it to the end of the level?

As for the Guardian mission I think that maybe a shipment of something (minerals, rock salt, beast bell and elevator components, raw Energy etc.) is on a cart pushed by some biotechs and need you or you and your squad to guard them, as they push the cart at a moderate pace, with your guardian shields and buffs. All sorts of monsters will attack depending on the terrain. If a biotech dies, the mission is failed, you have to get out of there fast, and you get no mission rewards.
That's my input.

Clear up a bit.

With recon missions, the idea is not to be seen. If you are seen, well... We've know what happens to them.

The tool gun idea is in place because those recons in levels need you to gather other knights, but they work on the door. It would be neat to have to do that sometimes. The 2 autogun is also not entirely useless with the deathmark abilities. Deathmark an enemy, then fight it. Would make for a completely different style of play that would be super fun. In later tiers, it would be more and more mandatory to stay hidden as enemies get stronger but your weapons stay the same.

Speed run missions should give extra loot so that people will be greedy. Either they want to complete the mission, or they want loot. If they want loot, they have to still run, as if they're caught they don't get anything. This would also allow the level to pay more with less enemies, and thus those who are greedy will want to stay around and kill everything. If you clear out all enemies AND escape, then you might get a bonus. Like, there's a monster gate at the end of the level that leads to a different elevator. That elevator would have twice the box amount. Like a prestige mission though, you can only do this once a day.

Escort/Guardian missions seem just bad. The only kind of escort missions that are fun are ones where you are in complete control, or don't get game overs from. Make the NPCs be invincible, or have to recover if hit too much. Simply have the resource they're transporting get less and less, and thus you get less of a reward the more you lose.

The only level with a definite "GAME OVER" is the speedrun one. All other levels can be completed if you mess up, but at a cost.
