Sniper Rifles (Moved from the Arsenal Section)

Hello Spiral Knights,
Is it possible for us to get an update/patch fully equiped sniper rifles of different callibres, which works the same way like other guns would work and its a bit OP also it is longer in size than the other guns, for like and halloween gift.
Thank you this would be appreciated...

Questions

Every gun in he game puts you within the range of enemy ranged attacks (except for perhaps the Magnus charges which have low DPS).

If a gun's standard attack reaches far further than any enemy ranged attack or awareness (rocket pups have incredible range but you still have to be in standard gun pup range for it to acknowledge you).

For this gun to be balanced and still hit the sniper bit it would have to have a low reload rate, high bullet velocity, and high damage. This is already similar to the Magnus line guns.

What about your suggestion sets it apart from the Magnus guns? And would that answer make it balanced?

Sniper Rifles would be interesting.

In fact, there's already a model of one in the game. Just open Spiral Spy and go to the Autogun folder. Look at everything there. You should find it. And about it having low reload rate, high bullet velocity and high damage, that's what Sniper Rifles are. The bullets would also probably be smaller and faster than the Magnus' bullets.

Actually that is a shadow type blitz (which is why it is in the Autogun family).

Sniper rifles are known for longer barrels than that gun plus they don't have sights on the barrel like the one you mentioned (they have scopes).

Gun balance.

One of the biggest things you have to look at when adding a new type of weapon in into the game would be to make it balanced with the other types of weapons.
First of all, the gun would have to be unique to Spiral Knights, no M107 Barrett clones....

If you add a very large gun with a long barrel and expect it to have a very high calibre, it would need to have high damage in order to match it's looks. But it would need to be balanced along with the other high-damage guns.

Such as the;
• Autogun line weapons taking a long time to finish firing and reloading before you can move again.
•Magnus line weapons having very high damage charges but knock you down on your butt every time you use it.
•Alchemer line having high damage per bullet, but only a two round magazine before you have to reload.

If a sniper type weapon were to be introduced into the game, this would be my personal opinion on how a large sniper type weapon could be balanced.

My idea would be a "Magnetic Rail Gun" style of weapon that would be hard to use, but have very high damage output under the correct conditions. The gun would be "CHARGE ONLY" meaning the only attack it has is the charge attack after you have filled your charge meter to full. When shooting the gun, the bullet would travel at a very high velocity piercing through all enemies in a straight line doing very high damage over a very long range, then after firing, the gun would have a long reload where you would not be able to move (like the Blitz).

Also, in order to keep up with the "sniper type" gun variant, the weapon would project a red beam showing the travel path of the bullet when it is being charged for very high accuracy shots.
