So I remember playing this game about 2-3 years ago on my old computer and enjoyed this game a lot. Eventually I stopped and went on to other things.

Just recently I got a brand spanking new, shiny computer (which i'll put the specs at the bottom of this paragraph) and decided to download Spiral knights on this computer.
But i've been running into huge complications with downloading it...

My first few tries at downloading SK were rather frustrating for I had to continuously uninstall then install SK ,and occasionally Java, to have the download bar go to 70% and hopefully finish. Which it usually does the trick, now the part im stuck on is the in-game download.

My main issue is that the download keep freezing

The closest its gotten is at 89% but then it freezes.
I have tried uninstalling and installing both SK and Java. (Java also being fully updated)
Ive tried replacing the getdown.txt and digest.txt and that somewhat worked, but obviously didnt fix the problem.
Ive even completely shut off all my firewalls and virus protections to hopefully give it that last push to download.
Lastly, I turned on ports 47624 and 47634 and i thought it would do the trick, but no.

So i am literally out of options and don't know what to do. I remember this game was super fun to play and was one of my first MMO games. I would love to play it again but i cant seem to complete the in-game download to be able to play it again.

OS: Windows 8.1
Processor: Intel core i7-4710HQ
Graphics card: Nvidia GeForce GTX 970m (Drivers fully updated)
RAM: 8GB

Try to run CCleaner. Web,

Try to run CCleaner. Web, standalone, steam version - they all use the same registry entries for SK.
So you need to make a clean uninstall of SK, with Revo Uninstaller for example (maybe CCleaner has this function too, I don't remember), then run CCleaner.
Reboot and try to install SK with standalone installer (link at the bottom of this page http://www.spiralknights.com/play.xhtml ) or with Steam if your main account there.

Also open game site with internet explorer 64bit, that will let you use 64bit version of game. Chrome is 32bit browser.

Didn't help

I did exactly as you said Ewbte about 5 times with the website and steam versions and didn't even get past the first download screen. I see there is a standalone version of this. Is it the same as the one from the website or not?

Well standalone just let you

Well standalone just let you download the game without web browser. I saw somewhere on forums, that some people, who had update stuck issue did install game on other pc, then just copied everything to their pc and it helped.

Do those two use the same

Do those two use the same network (maybe wifi)? If so, router has it's own settings, which can have firewall as well.
If it is not, try to contact support directly http://wiki.spiralknights.com/Support_Portal

Post here a resolution if you will find, thanks! I'll try my best too.
