The S.I.D. D.C. is a name of the suggestion. The weapon itself is called the Refractor, and it is a bomb.

This is how it could work.

This bomb is a devious little fritter. Please read the way the bomb's attack progresses below:

1. You equip the bomb.

2. You charge it. The charge finishes.

3. You put it down.

4. The white ring aura starts spreading to the outer white ring.

5. The white ring aura touches the outer ring. It blows up.

6. When the bomb blows up, it sends these white spots beneath all the enemies that were inside the bomb's white ring aura.

7. The white spots appear under the enemies for about 1 second.

8. After one second the white spots blow up.

Suggestion #2: Everything is the same except the large white ring aura is much smaller. Instead what happens is there is a small 1 tile white ring aura like the OLD shard bomb. When the small 1 tile white ring aura touches the outer white ring, read carefully. When the bomb blows up after the 1 tile white ring charge is done, white spots appear underneath enemies around a wide area around the bomb. How big is the wide area around the bomb? About two times the size of the mist bomb area. This makes it so you can quickly place numerous Refractors down at a speedy rate unlike the top suggestion.

White spots will SLOW enemies down!

Please remember that when the white spots appear for 1 second, you can dodge them. But, if you don't escape the white spots in time, you'll get hurt by the exploding white spots.

Basically, the bomb 'Refractor' is a bomb that depends on timing... If the enemy stays in the white spot too long (more than one second), they'll be hurt.

Q&A:

- How big is the white ring radius?
The 5* Refractor is two times larger than 5* mist bombs. All the star versions of the Refractor have 2x white ring size as all the star versions of mist bombs. As the star number is higher... the size of the white ring for the Refractor gets bigger...

-How big is the initial bomb explosion?
Same as the white spots. 3x3 tiles.

- Do the white spots need to be white?
No, depending on the Refractor type the color will be different.

-How strong?
5* Refractor has the same damage as 4* Master Blast Bomb

-Does the initial explosion cause damage?
Yes it does.

-How big are the white spots?
3x3 or 9 tiles. The middle tile is where the enemy is with 8 tiles around the middle tile.

I think this suggestion is really interesting to see in Spiral Knights. What do you think? Please comment below!

this..

this reminds me of seraphynx second attack "Heart Attack". It marks the enemies and later one the effect happens. I like the idea, but have you thought about how this will work against monsters?

also does the initial explosion cause any damage?

The thing is... the white spots do not become this large area of effect like heart attack. They are isolated spots that form beneath enemies inside the white ring. Against enemies, the white spots are effective. I'd like to add the size of the white spots are about 9 tiles (3x3) of size each.

Upgraded the size.

Would be difficult to use

Would be difficult to use against fast moving opponents. Maybe if instead of having the white spot stick to the ground, have it "tag" the enemies instead? Like Catalyzers.

XD
Did you think of... when you had the idea of "white spots"? how did it come to you?

but really, it's vanilla ice cream right?

algorithms are the solutions to any problem.

keep, that sounds an awful lot like hexing haze.
as for the suggestion, meh. how many times a spot-on artillery strike actually strikes the targets?

Ok, maybe I made the duration too long. I meant the 1 second to be a flash, like really quick.

*Forget the post above.*
My intention for this bomb is to act similar to the current shard bombs, but differently. While shard bombs stick to their ring-shaped counterpart, this bomb will be more scattered in nature, and unlike the tortoguns, these white spots will be more widely clustered and will be based on the number of enemies and their locations. I hope that helped !!!

By the way, you guys need to remember you can place a lot of these down. If there's one enemy then this bomb is pretty useless (then again all bombs are pretty useless for one enemy) except for bosses since they're larger. The more enemies, the more chance of chaining. Also for mini enemies, there might have to be an adjustment since there can be huge lag due to the amounts of generated white spots.

How about this, there is a 25% of white spots spawning for mini enemies?

Oh now I get it,

If that's the case, then I actually think the normal Shard Bombs are better. If they had their invincitinks removed. Because with good kiting, a Shard Bomber can decimate a single opponent. Whereas your bomb would have difficulty hitting them at all.

Imagine fighting a single demo gremlin with this bomb. It'd be a nightmare.

That's why I suggested tagging. But Thunder is right, that would make it no different from Hexing Haze XD

Maybe if you make it so that enemies hit by the initial explosion become unable to move? Kinda like a non-localized vortex.

The Hexing Haze attack... The X's follow the enemies like the Catalyzer charge bullets. This bomb's white spots don't follow enemies! Big difference :p

And remember... The explosion of the white spots is 3x3 tiles. That's pretty darn big. Instead of rooting enemies, how about make enemies slowed down?

ooh! That's good! The initial

ooh! That's good!

The initial shot can have a good chance(50%) to inflict strong(unresistable) stun.

ooohh

now that is a good idea. but i wish it has a visual effect of more like gravity puling you down then stun. the stun effect is too generic, it's used everywhere.

Like...

... This?

If so, your welcome for the graphical presentation.
And a question, how to craft? Does it start from 4*? Is it a boss token item like DBB or even maybe a expansion exclusive like DR.
Details plz :3

Gunnerific: Thanks for the graphics : )
I won't go into too much detail since that's OOO's job but here are my opinions~

Crafting is like any other weapon out there. It starts on 3*. I was thinking for it to be a weapon for the Tortodrone event (like the Tortogun). So, you'd need Ancient Shells or whatever it is Tortodrones drop to craft the Tortobomb. I think it would sound good being called a "Refractor".

i'll use the graphic, if you don't mind. If you do, I could make my own. Thanks!!
