I am a beginning writer and animator and I like writing stories about ideas/games/movies I like, and end up with a Wattpad account full of Fanfics. I was about to write some Spiral Knights stories and I thought:

"In a story or movie, should I have the characters have a human face or a Spiral Knights face?"

For example, if i were to animate some episodes to expirement with, would the Knights have relatable human complexions and pale, normal skin, or the dark, personal-colored skin in the game? Of course, if the Knights had human-like skin, they'd probably have eyes with irises as their personal color. I might take some time to animate it and give you an example episode, but don't count on it.

DERPPPP!! i need to be random.

Black Mages are awesome for obvious reasons.

I think that despite the many parallels in activities and practices that occur between Knights and the people we live with in society, the lack of humans in this game is a valuable charming plus. However, you could always attempt a crossover story featuring Spiral Knights and another universe with human(oid) characters, like Phantasy Star Online or Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicle.

Also, since we're on this topic, I'll just drop in this image for reference.

I would like it to be a bit more game accurate

You could have their eyes animate to show emotion (like EVE from Wall-E), you can also exaggerate body language to get the point across

Of course even with the most robotic characters you can give them emotion with music and by conveying their intent

Hair

Also, if I decide to make the knights more game-like, should I give them hair? Hell, do they even HAVE hair? Maybe clips or scenes wthout armor on? I mean, like, not nudity of course. (It's not hentai! [As far as you know... :3])

That was a joke for those of you who are too serious.

Toupes only

If you have them without armor let them keep their helm on (so it will be easie to identify them) and have them lounge about in light armor (0-1 star armors and certain costumes)

I Think...

Holy-Nightmare >If you have them without their armor let them keep their helm on (so it will be easier to identify them)

Yeah, I understand why your saying, but (don't get me wrong, your idea is great!) I think i might be able to remedy that by giving all the main characters their own personal color so they don't get mixed up. Im experimenting with both of these ideas.

Sorry, I just think toupes look funny. :P

Who said they had to be the SK model, you could have your own hair models just so long as they don't look ridiculous.

Each having their own color is good but it severely limits the potential number of cast members.

There are 24 personal colors and some look very similar. (number taken from WIKI)
There are way more helmets and costume helms (too lazy to count)

Perhaps you could combo these together to greatly increase the number of possibilities. (could even have "twin" knights that dress the same with different colors)

Do a Spiral Knights face. Spiral Knight's aren't all that different from what you see through the helm. Hair is fine too.

Do what you want.

I'd recommend a Spiral Knights face. The big eyes are just too cute to be muddied up with other face bits.
Plus if you're beginning to learn how to animate, you can focus more on the character's body movement and not worry about their mouth. The eyes are already sort of comical, so animating them is nothing too big.

You also might want to reach out to the treasure vault community if you haven't already! There are plenty of good (and not so good...) writers flowing in and out of there with fanfics, and I'm sure some of them would love to help you write some stories!

Yeah, try Treasure Vault.

Depends on the circumstance. I'm pretty sure the intent of the faces was to basically, at least in a realistic situation, be the "deadly weapon with lollipops for the kids" kind of thing, sorta how something, say Robocop, was meant to be for the public I guess? That's why the helmets without a visible face always changes the mood to serious, especially how the main line Cobalt visor comes down for the strongest version.
To answer your question, the Knights have no body. Like ... literally.
As for humans, people have done it pretty well. Even if...it's, er, a gender-bent Bechamel (hopefully it was just a misunderstanding, YOU CANNOT GRASP THE TRUE FORM OF STYLE!). I wouldn't recommend looking for the site it was posted on, though. Looked
lewd... /sigh

Tha Treshure Valt.

lol, I never even thought about putting this in the treasure vault! XD

Yeah, Sir-Henry-Cooldown, I think I'm gonna give them an ACTUAL BODY, and probably make the armor more interactive, EX: Cobalt Visor flips back, Hood comes off head.

Ya get wat i'm sayin? I mean, that Mecha Knight body? It IS pretty sexy, but animatrons do not make good allies.

>>>>BTW I'm gonna put this in the Treasure Vault.

....

You could just do some practice and make a SK caramelldansen video. Just have the various cast members pop in and start dancing.

@Holy-Nightmare NO! that Is overused and its not cute or funny! Its just annoying for the rest of us who get tired of the SAME THING OVER AND OVER. I mean, yeah at first It was cute, but when people made parody's of It, It didn't even cycle to a different character! It was just recycling the same animations over and over for 7 minutes! its just the same thing over and over. the same dance. ITS STILL GOING ON! PLEASE MAKE IT STOP!!!!! Also Its not even anime, Its made from the Swedish.
