Why didn't Three Rings just add enchantments rather than doubling the amount of current armor in the game?

I'm not being "that guy" here, I'm completely happy that the Gunner Update is out and I'm not in any possible way trying to be rude but it seems a bit... overdone to some extent that the new gunner armor completely doubles the existing armor just for very slight differences.

This isn't really a problem on one side of things but it's also very... misleading on how much was added. This is especially prompt for plenty of people who want to craft everything or even gunners themselves whom want to have access to a lot of these variants. In the long-haul, price comes into play here.

An "enchantment" system here would seem to make the armor easily accessible to many people within the game. How it would work:

Remove the current 5-star armor set with Sacred [type] Armor and Helm. (EX: Sacred Pathfinder Armor)
Take said armor to a vendor that will "enchant" the armor by using extra Materials or Minerals.

Sacred Firefly Hazard Armor and Helm would require Crimsonite (x20), Jelly Glue (x5), and 2,500 Crowns to enchant per piece. The enchantment may be reversed for a fee.

Not the best explanation on the subject but I feel as though this would make it much more accessible than it currently is.

So, sideways crafting? And

So, sideways crafting? And re-crafting?
They didn't do it for the Obsidian gear and the Grinchlin Assault reskins.

Constant re-crafting vs. multiple permanent crafts. Unless it was really cheap, chances are someone would just dedicate one helm to fire and another to shock, rather than flipping back and forth. And that would be where we are now.

If anything the new sets are the most sane and well thought out examples of gear design in a long time; It's surprising they even got round to it despite the power creeping sickness known as the Kataclysmic Confrontation.
