Why get the new GU armors when BK or Chaos outclasses it and most players have Chaos?

When an enemy is about to attack you do you stand in front of it and rely on your status and damage resists to protect you?
I can see how the GU armor can make a transition to Chaos or BK easier but once you reach 5 stars and are using Chaos you are good at dodging and don't rely on status resist as much anymore.

Believe it or not, people cannot play perfect 100% of the time. Theoretically you don't even need armor. Beyond the damage/ASI/CTR bonuses, armor is to help you for when you make a mistake. Shock resist vs Shock vulnerability is the difference between walking off a zombie brushing up against your elbow, and being paralyzed as 10 of the things chomp down on your face.

Well really you don't *just* need chaos and black kat set. You need a few sets for each of the non-freeze status effects that provides some sort of decent bonus, and then chaos and black kat set. That way, you can use chaos and black kat pieces safely when you need to, and end up with a total of med resistance + unique variants, which can often get you up to a good +5 resistance along with the crazy buffs from chaos or black kat set.

Even still.... the new stuff
Even still.... the new stuff doesn't seem as great as it should be.
If BK and Chaos weren't a thing then I think that there would be as much fuss about the armors introduced as the new weapons.
I am well aware of how status immunity can greatly affect gameplay (Dragon Scale in C42 lets you be far more aggressive that a Chaos or BK set), however one of the major money sinks in SK is PVP and with Max damage sets or sets that provide universal VH CTR and DMG boosts the new gear seems quite lackluster.

I usually just run with my Black Kat Mask and armor that will grand me any necessary non-freeze status resistance. Usually to still have that margin of error in-game since anything can happen, you can't perfect a run 100% of the time as Traevelliath stated.

Well, the new GU sets supply players with a safer option. Personally, I would've gone for it if it had been released earlier. It provides players who are either not very good at dodging, have bad internet, or simply like being more safe, a set of armor that suits them.
Because not everyone likes to walk around with negative status resists all the time.
