A curiousity: 2* Crystal Bombs are actually half Piercing, half Normal damage.
This probably isn't really that relevant to anyone, but I thought it might be interesting to some on a "the weapon's displayed info LIES" note.
I was using a Crystal Bomb and a Spine Cone at the same time, just for kicks and comparison, and I began to notice something very strange...
Even though both bombs are shown to do only piercing damage, at about equal amounts, the crystal bomb was doing comparitively A LOT MORE damage to enemies resistant to piercing damage than the spine cone, but a lot LESS damage to enemies that were weak to piercing. Crystal bomb was approximately half damage to the piercing-resistant while the Spine Cone did approximately 1/5 damage, etc.
I wonder, though... was this always this way, or did they change it recently to differentiate the crystals more from the new Spine Cones, and just haven't fixed the inaccurate damage display in the weapon info yet?
Against beasts, they both did more damage, obviously, but the crystal bomb only did a little more (not including when multiple hits stacked at once) while the Spine Cone did a lot more.
Against things like constructs, the crystal bomb did a little less, while the spine cone did a LOT less.
Against anything they were neither weak nor strong against, they both did almost exactly the same damage.
you were using it on beasts or not?
