Change Lockdown "Captures"

At the end of a Lockdown match, you wouldn't put "Kills," right? You put "Damage." Why? Because people will just steal kills and only do the last hit to claim it for their count.

...so why do we count captures this way? It needs to show time spent actively capturing a point, NOT how many "captures" you obtained. Strikers will rush in and only capture for the last 2 seconds, while Guardians actually do the work and all the capturing. It is unfair to and needs to be fixed. Someone should bring this to the GM's attention.

Another LD suggestion?

A few things:

1. OOO clearly doesn't care about lockdown.

2. People care less about caps and more about damage, so people wouldn't really care.

3. It would just create more toxicity in the community and more flame wars in the coliseum forum. Have you seen that place?

Yeah, I don't think this change should happen. Hey, it's good that some people are still suggesting ways to improve lockdown.

In regards to point number 2: Caps are what win games. Anyone who isn't a typical striker would care.

Yes, anyone other than a typical striker would care. However, you have to remember that the typical striker makes up most of the LD demographic.

How about we make all the missions suck except for FSC? Not a great idea.

Universal truth

Regardless of what PVP game you play there will be those who don't play the objective, but rather play for some obscure number that points to how supposedly good they are.

If SK really cared about PVP then it would be near the top of their work list, at the moment LD balance is on the list but nowhere near the top.

It would be nice, but not really necessary. Lockdown is supposed to be a cooperative game. Why do you care that a teammate got credit for a capture you did more work for? You both contributed to the win and you both get the same reward. This is only an issue for people who want bragging rights.

My +1 is because I think it will make strikers work harder to earn cap time, which is a good thing for keeping the game capture focused.

No harm in it.

Making it a timer would be fine. If you want to make the numbers overall bigger so it gives everyone more bragging rights, you could also have "damage dealt defending" instead of "defends".

No real harm in doing this, as we all know people like to see big numbers next to their name.

There is also currently no "assists" in LD. Perhaps these could be credited to those players who deal a status to a target that someone else kills. This is often the case with Bombers and other status support users.

Most of the time bombers have very little to boast about in LD, while the suggestion of this thread would help it wouldn't provide enough aid for how bombers are viewed in LD.

Assists aren't really needed seeing as we don't have a kill count. Reason I bring up damage dealt while defending is that it would be strange for captures to be a large number while defends (which are similar in all honesty) are still just small numbers. If damage was swapped over to kills, assists might work, but it wouldn't exactly be a good showcase of how well you did as much as it currently does.
The best players right now will have reasonable captures, decent damage, and maybe a defend or two. Under the large number system, the same players would have the same damage, at least a minute of capture time, and perhaps several thousand damage while defending.

Support players are more a given to the team, not the scoreboards. You can't put a number on how well you held a point, especially if you spend that time not physically on the point (i.e., mist bomb walls). However, your team will thank you.
Many times in the past I have entirely cut off one of the enemy's main paths of movement on a map like gardens with a mist bomb (because spawn camping isn't fun for anyone), thus they must take alternate paths to get behind my wall, which is where the rest of my team falls back to. I don't get damage because I'm making a wall, and I don't get captures or defends because I'm not on a point, yet being a wall is a huge asset to the team. The enemy team doesn't walk on my haze bombs, so even with an assist system I wouldn't have any extra numbers.
