Dear Three Rings, make content for us veterans that will last even the quickest players over a few months to accomplish. What is it? I don't know.

Now you caught on to my idea, WHAT could possibly last us veterans over few months, or up to a few years at most, AND is not repetitive?! I don't know, why not comment below and share your thoughts!

This is a new type of suggestion so instead of reading my topic, I think it would be better to hear out our veterans' opinions.

algorithms are the solutions to any problem.

how about something involving a boss you need to grind a bit for to then get tokens from with which you can craft stuff!
I don't know if you read what you wrote, but you described a general event, and you know how this forum reacts to it. besides, it's probably not going to be enough, since the content we need to play needs to be developed first, which takes time that you will use to get bored.

That kinda depends. If it's

That kinda depends. If it's "Get the unobtainium lockbox!" with a probability of dropping once a month, then no.

If its a new boss, take the tortodrone approach to it:
Make it so you need to craft something to get in ( but allow people to join after the run starts)

God please don't do that. We already have Tortodrone, Margrel and Shadow Lairs. Enough gates already, no one wants to play boring content over AGAIN just to get to the new stuff that no doubt less than it should be if it has a gate to keep you grinding longer.

Margrel doesn't count, you don't make the book

And is saving for the Id cards and shadow keys really hard for you? How often do you play? once a week?

Horde mode

Why not have a game mode based on MVM?

http://www.universityobserver.ie/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/TF-2-Mann-vs...

You and 5 friends play a horde mode against various monsters. For each monster you kill you earn Green CR. Between waves you can further upgrade your weapons (beyond Max) with all sorts of insane powerups (Health on kill, effective damage to all on kill, on charge buff allies). Each weapon/item would have it's own particular buffs to add.

The idea is to prevent the monsters from carrying a bomb to a drop point. The longer you play the more powerful or resistant the enemies become. (to prevent Haze spam)

You can also play using LD shields or your own shields and you can buff these as well.

At the end of all the waves you get a refund on all the Green CR you spend and that gets sent to your inventory. The higher the percentage of all the CR you collect you get a bonus.

For that they would need to fix the recon shield
Rock jellies can still see you and probably others can too

Um.

A horde mode would indeed last players a long time, but make it a unique-to-spiral knights horde mode, not something that is "TF2 PvE in Spiral Knights".

A potential horde mode that could work would be a core pulse. The core would open slightly and you would squeeze inside with just enough time to get in with your party. Once inside, you discover that alpha squad has been fighting off hordes of monsters this entire time, and are growing tired. You must pick up the task and defend alpha squad while they recover/heal/whatever. Occasionally an alpha squad member may wander into the fight and help fight, or assist you in battle (AI medics would be amazing). At every "boss" wave, all alpha squad members would jump into the action and help fight off the monster. After that monster is defeated there is a brief power surge in which players must either leave on an elevator, or stay for another round(arsenal stations become active). Rounds will get progressively harder until a "final" battle. After the "final" battle, there will be a longer lasting power surge which you must leave from, however Alpha Squad insists on staying in case "more of these fiends come back".

Now for rewards. Rewards could give a crown reward or perhaps special material rewards. I lean a bit away from crown rewards myself, but it's not too far off. Crownless, enemies will drop heat and materials. Materials could be exchanged for rewards or used themselves to craft new gear. This new gear levels up depending on the wave of the horde mode, but otherwise is pretty standard gear for PvE and PvP. You can also sell these materials to shady "vendors" who lurk within various depths in the clockworks, and will buy those materials for a good price (At least double what a typical vendor would buy them for, maybe have a scaling purchase system for star levels, like multiply the costs by the star level. 1* would still be 1 crown, 2* would be 10, 3* 20, 4* 100, 5* 250).
These materials would also have an interesting system, in that 75% of them that are dropped are bound, and 25% of them are unbound. This means if you want to sell these materials, you'll be able to sell some of them to players, otherwise you need to either use them yourself, or find those shady merchants.

What does this do for end-game players? It makes them A) Run the arcade more (to get to the core), B) Have a ton of fun fighting back hordes of enemies (waves to be randomized pls), C) New interesting boss fights/mechanics (AI to join in), D) Give more unique gear, E) New ways to generate revenue, and F) Create a new incentive to run every part of the arcade (to find shady merchants). This also gives new players incentive to reach end-game as there are things to do other than polish your weapons and run FSC so you can perform a little better in lockdown. The bottom line is that all of this is free to the player - no purchasing shadow keys, no paying for DLC, nothing. Just get to the core terminal, descend, and fight to stay alive.

Overwatch from Blizzard takes a lot of what made TF2 successful while still being unique. The Horde mode is a running idea, one thing that I really want to see is weapon buffs that can't be obtained via UVs (a MVM idea). There could of course be a different objective, perhaps like a tower defense game where we lose points for every monster that makes it through. (naturally Wolvers cannot teleport after passing the 1/2 way mark).

The papaya has a suggestion

Building a snowman. Think about it, one team uses Grinchlin snowballs, the other one uses normal ones. Whichever team ends up throwing the most snowballs at the pile in the middle wins. Of course, you can throw them at each other to damage (and kill) other players.
*Breaks into a Frozen tune*

In all seriousness, "something new" pretty much involves an event in which
1) No items will be obtained (as that just leads to grinding)
2) New mobs/terrain every...single...time

I'm tilting more to @Holy-Nightmare's idea of hordes. Now this sounds an awful lot like Pokemon.

You are experiencing a PICNIC ERROR!

A Rogue-Like mode. Back story is that the core can only be opened if there are enough 'Dream Warriors' who attempt to open the sucker. Each dream is randomized, and we have to progressively build our gear as we go from Depth 1 to Depth 30. Parties must be in fours, and the party may take breaks and go back to Haven whenever they get to safe areas. Assuming they stopped at a safe area, the exact same set of four party members may pick up the adventure from where they left off. Because the party is fixed at four, various puzzles and challenges can assume 4 party members.

Sparks of Life are spent when entering the mode, but cannot be used during the dream. Death of all party members causes the dream to go bad, causing it to vanish. (But you keep all of the crowns you gained.) Then the party will have to restart from the very beginning, with a new set of randomized gear and levels.

Reaching Depth 30 would grant specialized rewards. This would be a permanent addition to the game, not an event. It would only be available to Vanguards.

Now that I think about it, this sounds like an awful idea for a few reasons. But, hey, I gave it a shot.

Pretty much

I gave my thoughts on that thread in that thread, but in general a varied horde mode is that last thing Spiral Knights PvE needs. We have random generation, story, bosses, minibosses... All we need is a horde mode and boss rush sort of thing, both of which could be in the core actually.
