Well, in all my time playing SK, I've noticed some things that benefit the game, and other things that hinder it. These are things I have tended to keep to myself, but sometimes, you feel like you wanna record these thoughts. These are just thoughts that have built up in my head. You may or may not agree, but I would still like to share. I know the developers at OOO are working to make the game better, but I feel this might be a collection of what most players want.

1. PvP
For years after the Coliseum update, we have been stuck together with the same plain modes. We've had Lockdown and Blast Network with almost no changes but the recent Spectator mode. I think instead of adding temporary fixes to people's enjoyment, we should have something that we would play over and over that changes slightly each time or that we can play many times without losing interest very quickly. This of course is a challenge. What can we implement into the game in order to keep veteran players for leaving or quitting? This question goes far past PvP, it applies to every other aspect in the game. What am I getting at you ask? In terms of PvP, we could have a tiered system. Let's say Lockdown has 8 tiers. Everyone starts at Tier 8. In order to move into the next Tier, which in this case is Tier 7, the player must fulfill certain requirements. Now, the big question is what happens when you reach Tier 1? Tier 1 would be the hardest Tier to attain. When the player reaches Tier 1, the player must fulfill requirements to stay in Tier 1. If after 6 weeks, the player cannot fulfill the requirements, he or she will be demoted to the previous tier, and this goes for all tier requirements. When it comes to players being pitted against each other, players will be pitted against other players in their current tier and the one ahead of them, meaning attaining Tier 1 Lockdown status is a privilege. As you progress through each tier, you should be able to gain rewards. As what those rewards are, I haven't thought that far. Players would be able to gain winning streaks and be rewarded for them. Optional objectives could somehow be implemented into this system. Furthermore, both Lockdown and Blast Network should be able to have different game modes. For example, there could be a 1v1 duel mode, a "freeeze tag" mode, a free-for-all mode and an "instant-kill" mode for Lockdown. If possible, there should even be other games added to the Coliseum. But all this is just hypothetical. If you need me to elaborate further on anything, drop a comment below.

2. Game Content
I have heard there will be a new boss and new boss levels, but I feel there should be something more. For starters, instead of leaving the story hanging at every turn, there should be a dialogue that helps the player understand the plot fully and give players that feeling that they are having fun. New content does not mean slapping on a random Clockworks level and putting in a new unique level with new ghost blocks. While we do appreciate the effort, this does not cut it. We may need new monsters, but not a new monster family. Bring back the Sleep status!!! Bring back the Slooms and Sloombargos!!! We need more Danger Missions, and DLC! And the makeup of each of these things must be completely new and unheard of. If need be, ask for help! What should the content pertain, what should the plot be like? After all, WE are the players. Really in the end, what we need is new, exciting platforms to toy around with.

3. The Arsenal
Here is where a lot of the game is heavily imbalanced. There are many weapons that do Elemental damage, for example, but limited Shadow weapons in comparison. The Gunner Update was an attempt to correct this problem and bring back many of players who strayed away from the game. And for a short while, it did work. But however, in the end, after they had their fun with the weapons, veterans still left. The amount of armors/helms added to the game while stylish and heavily appreciated, was really uneccessary, especially with the defenses and the bonuses provided. It is true: the art of being a gunslinger was heavily flawed and mechanics needed to be updated, but all the work that went into the helms and armors could have been to develop new bomb and sword mechanics as well as new bombs and swords AS WELL AS guns. If OOO wanted to implement new gear, there could have been GENERAL gear for people's preferred class of weapons, like the Gunslinger Hats and Sashes. Not the heavily confusing mass of slightly changing pieces of armor.

Well, that's I have to share for now, if you have any questions, disagree or agree with anything I have said or want to add anything at all, feel free to comment below.

algorithms are the solutions to any problem.

the problem with splitting the LD games into tiers is that there is enough wait already, and lobbies for matches would be much harder to build. it's a good idea, but it just doesn't work with the current SK population, as it didn't work a year and a half ago when I first saw this suggestion.

if you mean optional dialog, then I'm fine. most people just don't care about the story, and dont want that to sllow down their progress.
and believe me cause I've been here a while, there hsve been ideas floating around in the suggestion subforum about what you said, and we're still here talking. also just saying things doesn't help. give your own ideas.

the problem with the gunner armors is indeed their sheer number. half of basil's recipies are now gunner armors. new weapons won't solve that problem, we would need pretty much another basil to have a chance of getting what we want already. I don't disagree on giving new weapons or armor, but right now something needs to be done to clockworks terminals to make them more player friendly.

"Let's say Lockdown has 8 tiers. Everyone starts at Tier 8. In order to move into the next Tier, which in this case is Tier 7,"
- So CoD league play? You play for points to move up to a higher league and see how high you can go, but if your points or too low in a league and someone in a lower league is promoted, you get demoted? The problem is "splitting the LD games into tiers is that there is enough wait already" so the leagues system can only be implemented with ALOT more players. CoD has massive waiting times for league and that has more players, plus your suggested system was 8 leagues, which is more so there would be even more waiting time.

"For starters, instead of leaving the story hanging at every turn, there should be a dialogue that helps the player understand the plot fully and give players that feeling that they are having fun."
- And then kill the fun for all those enjoying trying to work out the story? Plus it'd kill the game altogether as everyone would know the story, have no point playing rank anymore and have no reason to wait for new missions. It'd slightly speed up the rate at which people get bored of the game entirely. Now that OOO are back to updating they seem to have all their updates planned out. It's possible they were halting updates until they had all their updates planned out for some time, so I expect they already know where the story is headed and are satisfied with the plot.

"Bring back the Slooms and Sloombargos"
- I also want gold monsters and regular tortodrones.

"We need more Danger Missions, and DLC!"
- Not really. Why bring out new DLC when you can just put it into the game for free? They could have made one of the new missions DLC but why? SK is not a pay to play game so the more story that doesn't find itself in either payto play it or save-up-so-much-energy-your-brain-explodes to play it the better.

"After all, WE are the players."
- And they are the designers.

"There are many weapons that do Elemental damage, for example, but limited Shadow weapons in comparison."
- More swords do shadow than pierce, dunno about guns cos of the update, more bombs do shadow than pierce. So yh...shadow isn't the centre of imbalance. Not only that but the flourish and (I think) BTB lines are the only sword lines not to end with some normal damage (apart from the DLC only Warhammer) and both of those lines are pierce.

The only problem I have with the gunner update is that it released too much. Gunning has been made a lot easier than using a sword or bombs. Bombs especially, as bombers only have 1 bomb that keeps up with the damage of other class weapons (and that bomb is DLC only).
Not only that but gunners already had a better armour line than bombers and so did swordies. The Mad Bomber is probably the most criticised armour and it should have been upped.

Maybe...

@Thunder: Yeah, the gunner armors were overwhelming. Uneccessary. And in terms of Lockdown tiers, it was really intended for the near future, as the current system will be too small to contain the future population.

@Chaos: It seems you nearly have a position opposite of mine. But can I ask, why do you feel that the story needs to be close off by the user? Or in other words, against development of the plot? I feel there is not a lot of information.

@Xanisher:

I agree with most of your post, but the tier system sounds like it would split the lockdown/ blast network players up. The thing is, we already have a low number of players participating in these activities and splitting them up sounds like it would make it hard to get any game started. Compared to the past where the games were usually full in tier 3 and even tier 1 had a few games a day, now its like a dry desert. Also, i think the tier system would be cool, but i think it should relate to a more prestige system instead splitting people into similar or close by tiers. This way a leader board can show the top tier and the person at the top will have to fight to keep up his name. Though i feel this is too much cosmetic and needs more impact. I'm really not sure how we can give people ranks in pvp without splitting them up.

Also a cool obstacle racing course would be cool where two players are in the fencer class in ld and have to continuously dash towards the end of an obstacle course and reach the first place. Though i can argue that having real spaceship race cars would be cooler. But 1 vs 1 or 2 vs 2 obstacle race course with weapons would be really cool in my opinion. Or just a 6 player obstacle course where they have to race to the end with weapons. Also, these cars/ability would continuously move forward and cannot stop, only slow down. I think it could be an intense mini game.

Also, it would be cool if the devs can create mini movies instead of always creating dialogues for us to read when finding out about spiral knight lore. Like what we find in the owlite mission and found out about vanaduke. Or about the owlites how they vanish ect.

I also think that all the info in the wiki should be sent to an in game library in sk so we as players do not have to get information from a website and not in game. It's just lazy programming to have info on the game from a foreign source that is not inside the game. Like a spiral pokedex or spiral library.

@Chaos-Mist:

We have 4 piercing swords, 6 piercing if you count the reskins and only have 3 shadow 5 star swords. So the statement "More swords do shadow than pierce" is false where we have more swords to piercing then shadow. I think we need more of an increase in shadow shields, and like xanisher said, need more shadow weapons in general. Maybe we have enough shadow guns, but swords and bombs needs an upgrade.

Ehh...

Suggestion itself is sorta vague other than the lockdown bit, and even then the lockdown bit is not a good idea. PvP should be more appealing to players who don't currently play PvP, not split up the current players. A tier system would work okay if we had a bigger PvP community, but we have a small game community with an even smaller PvP one, so that isn't a great design leap.

As for the "game content" section, this is pretty much what everyone always says and it's not helpful in the slightest. "Give us more levels!". It's not as simple as that. Three Rings needs to design, program, texture, optimize, and more to make these levels, and even more if they're randomly generated. We have had specific ideas for levels in the past (most recent one I can remember was a POW camp. Think of it as a jailbreak in a gremlin/fiend level), but just saying "I want more, but don't know what more is" isn't great.

"More weapons" has the same problem as above. Honestly bombs need some love, but the whole gunner update revolved around, you know, guns. Expecting anything other than guns to get an overhaul in that update is sort of narrow minded.
We need more piercing swords (same style for all of them right now), another shadow sword style (fast sword maybe?), and more of every bomb type except normal.

@Fangel: High DPS bombs at

@Fangel: High DPS bombs at that. As for added content, yes, I haven't thought that out far enough. BTW, never said we should be expecting stuff other than guns in the GU. I said too MUCH was released, and OOO could have saved some time and direct that toward ANOTHER project.

@Blandaxt: Yeah, a mini-game like that would be very nice... guess we should be leaning towards new game and modes other than the tier system.

@Xani

"Or in other words, against development of the plot?"
- I believe it should develop gradually so as to make the game last longer. If it is sped up the game will end too soon and people will leave the game due to that aspect of "I want to finish it" being gone. Even if that's not openly your reason for playing the game it has a heavy psychological effect when you reach the end. The "Oh...well that's done" moment is one I'd like to avoid hitting.
