Recently got back into SK. Having troubles though as I'm trying to optimize my setup for it & can't seem to figure out how to put it into a borderless window mode, as to not make it crash or bug out from alt-tabbing from going to monitor to monitor. I've seen this "Go to your steam files & edit extra.txt." but I don't have a text file named that, nor do I understand the reasoning behind doing such. Any advice/answers?
Borderless Window Mode
It seems to work, but as I clicked back to the forum to thank you, I seem to have discovered that both my monitors with flash & audio will stutter, as if I was tabbing out of the game anyway... Is this the expected result?
That should probably not happen. Make sure fullscreen isn't enabled in-game.
You make a file called "extra.txt". Read the old GM post on the topic of using extra.txt.
More tricks for optimizing the game can be found in this old thread. As a key note, it is a really old thread and the devs have actually made some of the settings default. This post gives the command for forcing java to use a borderless window.
Full screen is in fact disabled. I don't know what would be causing this issue at this point. :S
"Resolution is 1920x1080 60Hz
For some reason, after trying some of the "optimization" features, I've been unable to change the effect of my monitors glitching every time I click off of spiral knights. I don't understand why it's doing this. If I take the borderless feature off, it no longer does this, but keeping it on seems to mess everything up. Any ideas?
That text file has to be created, not found. Just open Notepad, place
-Dorg.lwjgl.opengl.Window.undecorated=truein, and save it as extra.txt in C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\spiral knights
