Alchemer charge attack

Several users have mentioned to me that the alchemer guns have good charge attacks, but I don't see why.
Currently I'm using a voltech alchemer mk II.
Can anybody explain it to me?

Alchemers are really disappointing until at least 4*, ideally 5*
With a 3* alchemer, you get the charge shot, which splits into 2 shots that bounce once each, for a maximum of charge + 4x normal shot damage.
With a 5* alchemer, you get the charge shot, which splits into 4 shots that bounce twice each, for a maximum of charge + 12x normal shot damage.
Alchemers do the most damage when you can get the ricochets to bounce multiple times off the same enemy. A single well placed charge shot from a 5* alchemer can instantly kill 2-3 zombies. With the lower star alchemers, you just don't get the bounces to get the insane damage the higher star alchemers put out.

No wonder... I thought it was like a complete mistake buying this weapon.
I understand now, thanks!
The key to alchemers is landing the ricochets. Without them, your damage output is poor --- worse than an antigua- or pulsar-style gun. With them, your damage output is excellent --- much better than those. Here is my brief tutorial for how to use alchemer ricochets.
It should also be said that alchemers get much more powerful at higher star-levels. These are definitely guns that reward patience and skill, rather than just fast, mindless clicking.
