Need help with T3 OCH gear choice

I've tried T3 och a few times, and I keep getting horribly murdered on the boss. A lot of it is because I play solo, but I think another part of it may be my gear choice.

You see, I'm still a defender elite. I still need to get a 5* shield, which will take quite a bit of grinding to get. It is also important to say that most of my 5* stuff is unheated.

Here's my loadout:
Vog Cub Cap
Vog Cub Coat
Heavy Plate Shield
Obsidian Edge
10 Sparks of Life, if needed
???

About the ???, I'm wondering what my second weapon should be. Here is what I've been considering:
1. Faust
2. Winmillion
3. Gigawatt Pulsar
4. Master Blaster
5. Electron Bomb.
6. Freezing Vaporizer Mk2

I'm willing to use the Sparks of Life I have, but it would be nice to use as few of them as possible. I could kill Seerus pretty easily with 10 Sparks, since I killed him about halfway without any last time.

So, which would be the best secondary weapon?

Arsenal

It's no big deal, but this thread is about equipment in Tier 3, so it's probably better for Arsenal forum than for New Recruits. Consider moving it (by editing the original post and choosing that forum from the drop-down menu).

As you probably know, Heavy Plate Shield is not a great choice. Gremlins inflict normal and elemental. Grey Owlite is a great choice for defense. Barbarous Thorn Shield and maybe Swiftstrike Buckler are more offensive choices.

Your Obsidian Edge is a wonderful choice. Vog Cub armor is also quite appropriate.

I don't know whether Seerus is freezable or vortexable. If so, then those bombs might work. Faust and Winmillion are definitely outclassed by Obsidian Edge here, so don't bring either of those.

My recommendation is a shadow gun. (There are no shadow-resistant enemies, and most enemies are gremlins, so it's okay to carry only shadow weapons.) You can use it to take out turrets from afar, although not as quickly as with a good elemental gun. More importantly, you can use it to wear down Seerus in the boss fight. If you can't spend any time to get good, or if you are pretty laggy, then consider Sentenza/Obsidian. But Umbra Driver and Winter Grave are both more powerful and more fun in the long term. Grim Repeater and Permafroster are probably okay too. I'd recommend against Biohazard for your first shadow gun.

If you meant us to pick only from the weapons that you mentioned, then I'd say give the freeze bomb a try, then the blaster.

Thanks

I've narrowed down my secondary weapon to either Gigawatt or Master Blaster.

The obvious drawback of the Giga is that it can't kill gremlins, but would it be a viable choice against the gun puppies in the earlier depths? And either way, I could just use OE charges to kill the gremlins, so the gremlins don't really matter.

Also, if I take the Master Blaster, should I ever have to use it at all? I mean, I could attack through the barricades with my OE and deal a lot more damage than a MB, right?

A third, but undesirable choice would be to grind more and get more gear. However, would OE/GP or OE/MB let me finish in a reasonable number of sparks?

At this point, I'm going with OE/GP

Yeah, I'd go with the pulsar as well, works well on the gun/rocket puppies at the end too.

Well there is an arsenal station before the Seerus fight, so you can take a Pulsar for the levels, and switch it out for the fight.

I'd recommend almost any other shadow gun over the Master Blaster. It's a really underwhelming gun that's only really useful for flinching enemies. The damage is quite meh too. I'd go with the Dark Chaingun Line for the sheer DPS. The charge can decimate anything it's pointed towards. If you want something for OCH specifically, then the Blackhawk is ideal.

For the Seerus fight itself, you really need a few bodies with you. One of the major hazards of the fight is the constant stream of Gremlins. It's much easier when their attention is split between multiple players.

And if you can, a piece of the Chaos Set. I'd recommend the Cloak, because it pairs really well with the Perfect Mask of Seerus. A Chaos Cloak + Vog Cub Cap will cover you well throughout OCH.

I second the Obsidian Edge and Gigawatt Pulsar. If you have teammates you can pick other weapons, but Obsidian Edge and Gigawatt Pulsar is a good combination to keep yourself alive.
A slow-bullet firing weapon like GP will stall gremlins with shock and force more enemies to dodge/shield than a Master Blaster could.

Personally though I'd go Obsidian Edge and Faust, because that sounds like a lot more fun than using Pulsars... (idk. I only have a Kilowatt Pulsar for LD trolling).
If you are good at using a medium and heavy sword together, this'd be a much more potent combination than OE and GP (as far as I know, cuz I don't use Pulsars).

Tehepicwin-Forum, do I understand correctly that you're having trouble with the boss, not with the earlier enemies? So you want to know what your second weapon should be after the final arsenal station?

If that's the case, then that second weapon definitely should not be Gigawatt Pulsar.

Ok

I guess Ill take the gigawatt for the earlier depths and master blaster for the boss.

good luck

Good luck. Let us know how it goes. I've never done Seerus with a blaster.

:D

YES! I ****ING DID IT WITH ONLY TWO SPARKS!

The blaster helped when I remembered to use it on Seerus as he ran around. If I used it a bit more often, I would have only needed one spark.

P.S. OE charge is OP

Sorry for barging in...

But I would have recommended Phantamos (Umbral Blaster is 4* I think) cuz I've seen some serious soloists that super-OP using phantamos all the way but.... meh. I actually don't likke the master blaster as I've experienced underdamage with it.... but its your oppinion.

he was trying not to get new items

He used his 4-star blaster only because he was trying to beat OCH without getting new items. He did not use his 4-star blaster because he thought that it was absolutely the best weapon for the job.

I'll go more in depth into my

I'll go more in depth into my experience.

The first level was super easy with OE/GP. The gun puppies died in about five shots each, and occasionally had their shots canceled by the blasts. The OE alone was enough to decimate the gremlins.

The second level was harder, but mostly due to the layout. Actually the third and fourth levels were also like that, except for the rocket puppies at the end of the fourth. However, I think rocket puppies will always be a pain.

And then the fifth level came. Oh boy. Let me just say that the MB really can't kill gun puppies very well. It doesn't exactly help that I'm not the best dodger in the world. I actually had to use all three of my health capsules on the fifth level BEFORE I MADE IT TO THE BOSS.

The first phase, against battlepods, was pretty simple. Charge OE on battlepods, do the same against the gremlins. The MB's damage was so abysmal that I never even thought of using it against the gremlins.

Then, Seerus came. This is where the MB helps a bit. As Seerus runs around, hitting him with a gun is really the only thing you can do consistently. I landed about 9 shots throughout the whole fight, which is about equal to an OE combo.

Phase 3 was hard. There were a ton of gremlins, and I almost got stuck in corners several times. I had to use a spark here. Fortunately, the OE charge granted me a lot of breathing room at times.

Phase 4 was similar to phase 2, except more annoying.

Phase 5 was really annoying, with all of the gremlins running at me. I had to use another spark when Seerus was two OE slashes away from dying. As in less than a combo. Meaning I would only have to use one spark if I got a few more MB shots in. *sigh*

Anyway, I beat OCH T3, immediately mailed an in-game friend on how awesome it was, then spammed it in lockdown.

Best SK experience I had in a while.

noice

Reminds me of the first time I solo'd a level, which was IMF (though I had done it before with others a few times). I had Charged Quicksilver, some Owlite shield and a Silent Nightblade (and a [Daring?] Rigadoon which I barely used). I pulled through with one or two Energy Revives.
Nowadays I'd scoff at how difficult I felt it was and how exhilarated I felt after succeeding.

But anyways, congratulations.
