Greetings knights, I’m here wondering on whether this is allowed let’s say modifying your helm to a GM helm, I’ve asked some friends About the issue. And they’ve said it’s not black or white it’s more of a gray area. Anyways, I thought I’d get you’re input on this Thanks for reading Knights!

Well, straight from the TOS:

Well, straight from the TOS:

13. modify any files or use any game hacking/altering/cheating software or
tools, including scripting or macroing software, or attempt to
disassemble the game client and/or decipher the data transmissions
between Spiral Knights' client and server. These activities will result
in immediate termination of the Player's Account and may subject you to
civil and/or criminal liability.

I would say the first part there "modify any files". Sounds like you would be modifying to do this, even if essentially re-skinning something cosmetic.

How strongly the GM's enforce

How strongly the GM's enforce the policy is entirely up to them. Technically speaking if they saw on their end that you were modifying files, as it says above it could be considered a bannable offense. I highly doubt a GM will give you the green light though to modify files, even if only for cosmetics. There are a few knights who have been given directly from the GM's an approved modifier for certain weapons from a LD contest. Because that was given from the GM's with specific instructions how to use it, that would be ok, but going around on your own could be risky.

@Legobuild

Thanks a lot :)! Good to know, I know what you mean but what about MetaknightXYz? He uses modified textures sound files etc, and records with them. Thanks!

It's all what you're

It's all what you're comfortable with on a risk level :3 You could always send in an in-game support request asking the GM's if there is something super specific you are trying to do. My assumption would be though they would quote what I have already put above.
