I propose a mechanic where "heavier" weapons break triple-hit blocks more efficiently (less hits) than lighter, faster weapons. Heavier weapons include Magnus guns, most blast-type bombs, and heavy swords.

Cutters

Should cutters need more hits to break blocks then?
I'd prefer not, but heavy weapons should definitely do what you suggest.

hmm

Nah i'm thinkin keep the way blocks break for weapons now, but change the heavy ones to deal more "damage". Good point, though.

Not trying to punish cutters, trying to go easy on bombers.

maybe

Perhaps we could get a shield that applies a low (5-15) amount of damage upon shield bumping, making it good for breaking blocks?

I think it should be as it is. You chose a heavy weapon? You'll hit monsters hard but will have a bit of a hard time with blocks. You chose a blast bomb? Why not a shard bomb or maybe DBB? You chose a Magnus-line gun? Learn to single switch then. You chose a fast weapon? You can run levels with a lot of blocks faster than someone with a heavy sword. THAT'S THE POINT!
+1 to Fangel's idea though, Zeddy proposed that idea as well in one old old thread.

Shield Bash!

I disagree on the notion that the entire point of using a fast weapon is to break blocks faster. Also, all of these ideas that have been thrown around are pretty cool, but all I want is to be able to shield bash through those evil, god forsaken blocks.

Personally, I disagree. Particularly in places in graveyards with three rows of three-hit blocks it's incredibly annoying to break them with bombs: the game really shouldn't be punishing me for choosing a bomb by making it more tedious (side note bomb update when?). By making it harder to break blocks with heavy weapons you're just making Brandishes and Autoguns even more of the best option in basically any situation.
