Recently, I've been messing around w/ the idea of using the DVS to cause poison when initiating a fight or to just finish off low-health monsters.
1.) I am only using the DVS as a utility weapon to inflict poison. Would you say the DVS used this way is high-tier/low-tier/casual/etc.?
2.) To my knowledge, there is no way to increase the chance of causing poison (for example). Is that correct?
3.) The DVS has a SLIGHT chance of inflicting STRONG poison. I've seen conflicting data, so is there a definitive answer on what SLIGHT and STRONG mean?
I would also just like to hear what everyone thinks about the DVS.

DVS has relatively high damage for what it is, but that damage is locked behind the fact that it does normal damage twice. The poison fixes this by removing a chunk of the enemy's normal defense, allowing the sword to do similar DPS to acheron, but it's hard to get the poison before you start doing damage.. the other way around defense is lots of attack up from things like maskeraith's cloak. You can also use maskeraith's quills to deal poison for you to capitalize on. Regardless, you're going to spend a lot of time using other weapons, which makes sense.
All of this isn't as strong as just using a different sword, or guns, or bombs. The issue is that it does single target damage, but we have blitz needle, warmaster rocket hammer, and grim repeater to do that much more effecively. Those also work well with maskeraith, and damage ups.
1. You're using the weapon incorrectly. I'd classify it as low tier/casual.

All in all I wouldn't craft DVS as your first sword or anything, but would definitely craft it later on because it's fun to mess around with. You can really go ham on enemies in ways you can't with other weapons using it, and that feels good even if it's kind of underwhelming. In this way, it's similar to winmillion, suda, etc...
I like to see players trying out these less-used weapons. The Cutter-line swords are great fun.
1. Not many people use DVS for spreading poison. It has short range and only slight chance. Consider Venom Veiler, Obsidian Crusher, etc. Even Obsidian Edge might be better than DVS for this purpose.
2. Correct.
