Has anybody tried crafting status UVs on Crest of Almire shields? If so, did you get anything cool?

I was thinking about what to do with my excess Eternal Orbs and Shining Fire Crystals... I'll never use even half of them. So perhaps, instead of buying an Ancient Plate item with my Vana tokens, I could buy a Blackened Crest. I could heat it with my excess Shining Fire Crystals in the next 10 FSC runs, and craft a CoA with my excess Eternals. If I don't hit a UV, vendor it for 30k. The net profit would be roughly 20-25k, excluding the loss of 3 Eternals.

It's intriguing, because it's almost self-sustaining... Surely somebody has done this.

I know some people speed farm OCH, and use their extra Eternals to craft+vendor Perfect Masks of Seerus. However, CoA crafting is interesting because it's the only way to get status UVs on shields.

interesting

I like that you're thinking of ways to get status UVs on shields. I'm not aware of anyone doing this particular strategy.

Oh, that's interesting. Maybe I'll try doing some shields to see if I get anything. It will be a gradual process.

I guess the holy grail would be curse max for UFSC. Hm, what else...

You could have vendored an

You could have vendored an ancient plate for 30k per 30 tokens. So you lose 5k cr per craft, which I suppose is fine. The chance of getting something good is very low though.

The only 2 UVs that you would want to get from this are curse and stun. A shadow or normal max would also be nice ofcourse, but that's not what you are doing this for since you could just roll at punch to get those. Other status UVs are useless because the shadow shields cover them already (skelly covers freeze and poison, crest of almire already has fire+shock). Curse is the obvious pick because of UFSC and Stun is a good UV on any shield that doesn't already have it as a resistance.

Secondly, I would really only consider a high or max status UV as very valuable. A medium is nice and a low would have some effect ofcourse, but I doubt anyone would consider their search completed upon crafting a curse low crest of almire. A high or max UV however does come with a noticeable increase in shield performance.

The chance of crafting a high or max stun or curse would be roughly 0.2% per craft. Just to give you an idea of the magnitude of the number of vanaduke tokens (30 per craft) and eternal orbs (3 per craft) required. Say you end up crafting 500 times, giving you a pretty decent chance of getting a stun or curse high or better. This would require 5000 vanaduke runs and 1500 eternal orbs.

Yeah, the math is fairly discouraging when you work it out. However, I think I'll still try crafting a few to see if I can get anything.

One bonus that I forgot about is the potential to get shining forge prize boxes. They are a rare event, but would be a nice bonus from this process.
