4th Ver: Med+Med=Very High so I assume it works the same way for what you said. (Calc 2)

Look no further than your character status screen. Click the knight icon to the left of the Arsenal button, and then hover your mouse over the helmet icon on the bottom left, to the left of the row of weapons.
Your armor's passive resistances will show on this display, but not your shield's. Shield resistances are not passive effects.
Verification 1: That is my understanding of it, yes.
Verification 2: Those status resists mean the shield's bubble takes significantly less damage from attacks that can inflict that status effect. They are not passive, always-on effects.
Verification 3: What you see is what you get. The defense gauges on your character's "total stats" display are simply worth twice as much, to accomodate the fact that you can wear armor and helm.
