Suggestions for sidearm/shield?

Hello, I just started this game about 3 days ago and I am still learning the ropes but slowly getting the hang of the inventory/item system.
I have decided that I wanted to go along with the cutter line and the Wolver to Skolver line of armor and sword, but I do not know what shield set and sidearm (bomb or gun) I should get. I was really looking at the autogun and was really interested but I wanted to check with you guys if 2 fast firing weapons like the needler and cutter would be a good idea. Any thoughts?
Also, I was eyeing the Vog Cub set, would the AS really make the difference on the cutter line?
EDIT: On the other hand, should I go though the poison cutter line or the hunting blade line?

I was thinking of going blitz
I was thinking of going blitz needle path because it has piercing, any thoughts? I'm just not a bomb guy but if you really reccomend it or if there is a way to get more slots (rumours there are) I will get one.

There is a way to get more slots but it costs a fair amount of energy to buy and I believe its temporary. If you really like the attack bonuses then Barbarous Thorn Shield may be good for you since it gives the Medium Sword Attack increase as well which will max out your Cutter's attack. As for teh Cutter itself, The Dread Venom Striker has more uses than the Wild Hunting Blade PLUS if you use the Barbarous Thorn Shield then you'll have Maximum Sword Damage against all enemies regardless.
For Guns the Antigua may be good for you. All the Autogun lines have a slight drawback in that you can't move for a short while once you start to fire. You can upgrade the Antigua to deal either Elemental and Pierce damage or Shadow and Pierce damage, the Argent Peacemaker is supposed to be a really good weapon against the game's hardest boss as well so thats a plus.

Extra weapons slot cost
Extra weapons slot cost somewhere around 150-250 CE and they last for a month. I rock three weapons [Glacius, Venom Veiler (Getting Nitronome soon to replace it, it sucks), and Vile Striker] so I think it's great. When you get more experienced, Argent Peacemaker (from Antigua line that you get for 25 Jelly Tokens) is really good and covers both negatives, but you still may want something with harder knockback.
Speaking from limited experience, but having read a lot of forum topics, I'd say with the Cutter line to go with Skolver. You do not need to go any faster with the Cutter, and the damage boost would help. Also, I have upgraded my Cutter Med Slimes UV to a Vile Striker for farming JK and plus, Poison Debuff is very underrated. Beasts aren't that common, and the Dread Venom is very useful. Also, for a sidearm, since the Cutter series doesn't have Pierce or Ele damage and also doesn't have any good knockback, you may want to get a good ele bomb that can be useful in mobs, aka Shivermist Buster. Guns don't have much knockback, and if you're stuck in arena with healers and a gun, you're going to be there for a while, hahaha. In conclusion, go for Vile Striker and a good ele or pierce bomb like Shivermist or Radiant Sun Shards or something with strong knockback like Nitronome. Hope I helped. :D
