Picking a Shield

So I'm fairly new to the game, just started playing last week, and I made a Defender as my first T2 shield because it seemed like a decent pick. Since then, I've found it kind of lack luster, especially considering the damage bonus from using the Bristling Buckler. So, I had the tokens to buy the Bristling and went for it.
I just upgraded it to a Twisted Targe and got a Unique Variant. Resistance to Elemental: Maximum!
I will probably upgrade this shield all the way to 5* as a result of that luck, but what I want to know is if an Owlite (or any other) shield would be better for resists. What shield would you use for Tier 3 runs? Vanaduke runs?

Don't screw Owlite Shield. No shield is perfect and each shield has its weakness and benefits. Bristling Buckler only provides defense against Normal and Piercing attacks so it is not so good against Elemental and Shadow damage (unless you have a good UV like Boltzabunch). Owlite provides defense against Normal and Elemental damage so it is not so good against Piercing and Shadow damage. No shield now (and most definitely not in the future) provides defense against all types of damage. In T3 (I heard) monsters deals more special (Elemental, Piercing, Shadow) damage than Normal damage so it will be good to have all kind of shield and equip it according to the strata of the gates.

I wouldn't unbind it, its a really good shield especially considering that it takes 200 energy to try for a UV on the line. Mine has the same bonus but lower and I already had random people talking to me about it in-game.

Are you kidding me? Once the unbind shop comes I would SELL it for a LOT. I could see it selling for over 20,000 CE easily. A max UV is better than a low UV by surprisingly little. Also, don't forget that money begets money. Good luck!

But the goal of the game is to ultimately get the best equipment. A perfect UV on an item like that which requires a boss item as a base is going to be insanely harder to get than a perfect UV on a normal item.
The only reason id ever sell that OP is if you decided swords are not for you and you want to become a dedicated gunner or bomber.
I mean look at it like this OP. Im a sword user primarily. Once i have a perfect set of swords and armor. my 'endgame', is running the t1 boss over and over for those shields to try and get that very thing you have. Do you realize how much time that would take? You already have the final crowing achivement! All you need to do now is fill in the rest.
In fact just thinking about it makes me want to become a bomber

Better equipment merely levels the playing field on higher tiers, so I can have new experiences without wasting all my energy on reviving.
I also see the best equipment as training wheels until I get good enough not to need it.

Has an unbind shop even been confirmed? IMO that would just be a mistake on 3 Rings' part. Most of that comes from the near uselessness of boss tokens. The update is supposed to take out materials from the boss tokens catalog thus making the only thing available weapons and gear. Well with people able to unbind them they'll just go to market which ultimately kills the point of fighting the bosses to obtain the special gear. Anyway like I said before, selling it is just dumb, unless like previously stated, you decide you don't want to use swords.

Unbinding will probably be expensive, so I bet there will be a huge markup on these items. It'll make it easier for CE-buyers, but everyone else might as well keep fighting the bosses.

the shield is of godly quality. like some players said earlier...congrats!!
At a high level of play, this shield is the best you can get for the majority of levels. In some cases, such as Firestorm Citadel and Tier3 arena/challenge gates you may want a shield with better resists and/or more defense. Your friend saying that it's not good compared to owlite has told you incorrectly, but it would be good to have both this and an owlite. Enjoy your super godly shield =)
First off - no one item is perfect and more powerful than Goku upon Nappas scan.
secondly - your twisted targe is godlly and would be worth.. well lots. lots and lots.
third, i guess - an Owlite would be an excellent backup shield, but seeing as how you have an Ele-max targe, stick to that for a while.
lastly - on Vanaduke, as ashamed as i am to admit it, i havent really done it, but yet i would assume seeing how its shadow, fire and "normal" damage attacks, you may as welll use your targe when its 5* - that, and it has a shiny "med" sword damage boost, which will make a Divine Avenger that much more awesome.
