Waiting for gates to change is tiresome, sometimes taking over half an hour to get the desired gate. I suggest lowering the change rate of the gates by a more time-friendly rate or even allowing us to choose the gate we want, that doesn't include the random gates. Seriously though, my playtime is over 100 hours and half of that was idling on the gates. Has this been acceptable for so long?

This wouldn't be such a problem if gates were more balanced, but they are not. When there's an Arena and IDK, jade tangle? Dark city? Anyway, something with a sucky payoff like that, not waiting is basically throwing half your crowns away. Or more.

Agreed.
They should change this, really. You'll still have to make multiple runs to 'find all the secrets' like said in one loading screen message, but it's simplified so people have a choice. Normal levels are typically easier than special levels like Dark City and arenas, and give less payout, so people will be able to choose-easy and low profit, or hard and high profit.

Amen man! I don't think you should chose your gate, but i shouldn't have to sit there so looong. Noctuelle (hello again) makes a good point though, no real hurry. I don't think we were ment to wait for gates though, the shifting is probabaly to make the game more random, so each time on the same gate isn't always the same. Lone knight (also hello again, are all the same people on?) also makes a good point, how the gate's arent that balanced. I think just making more danger rooms minus the crappy 3 CE fee could help if your going back to T2 for a jelly run, and you have to start at moorcroft mannor, busy using your wild hunting blade on punny T2 wolvers.

Loading screens are enough
Loading screens are enough waiting. Waiting over 30 minutes for a gate to change is ridiculous as you're not even doing anything in-game. The suggestion to go do something isn't viable unless you're on the computer all that time in case the gate appears.
It's not the same as mist energy as you know when you have enough energy, that isn't a problem as you can simply return tomorrow.

It's not the same as mist, correct, but I really think that they won't change this becuase you werent ment to wait for a gate to change. You aren't supposed to milk gates for the highest paying gate path, but like loneknight said, gates should be more balanced, there shouldn't really be a highest paying path.

The point with "there
The point with "there shouldn't be any highest paying patch" sounds about right. That's absolutely true.
At the same time, it is also true that players aren't supposed to "milk" the same gates over and over for money.
Players should be enjoying the fighting itself and entering new areas as they are exploring different gates (however ridiculous may it sounds for some of you, it sounds just right for me).
I play games for having a good time, not for doing the most profitable things ONLY (of course this is a question of personal preferences and of course people usualy aim for having money and wealth ASAP and of course I am usualy kind of poor :D)
But hey, you know what I mean, right? ;)
I mean the only aim of this game so far is to get 5 stars equip and kill some more things... so there's plenty of time to earn enough crowns and stuff IMHO.
That is, however, my point of view and some of you might not agree.

I think it's just a part of this game.
Same as waiting for ME to refill itself.
Use that time to read forum or to grab and eat a snack or whatever you feel like doing.
There is realy no need to hurry in Spiral Knights.
(Thought I admit that some people may not have so much free time or cannot be online so often, so it may be a problem for them)
