Mist energy being shared?

My brother and I have been playing spiral knights together on the same macintosh for about 3 days now. We soon realised that our mist energy was shared between the two of us (for no apparent reason, and it really sucks). I have 2 questions

1. If my brother played on our other PC and I played on the mac would our ME still be shared between our two accounts? So does the ME sharing rule only apply to the machine you are using? Or the household you are in? Or Email even? (we used the same email address to sign up)

2. From what I gather, ME will not be shared between 2 accounts if one of them buys energy with real cash. Would this be a permanent effect or just a daily sort of thing that would eventually wear off? I dont want to have to spend money everyday just to stop my brother from using my fair share of ME.

P.S to stop ME energy being shared do both my brother and I have to purchase ME? Or just one of us?
I would be extremely grateful to receive help with this, because honestly, im stumped.

From what I understand (from

From what I understand (from the wiki energy FAQ http://wiki.spiralknights.com/Energy_FAQ ), mist energy is shared between all unpaid accounts on a single computer.

So, if you buy CE (with real money. buying in game for crowns won't work) even once, your account is permanently considered paid, and you don't share mist energy any more.

In addition, moving one account to a different computer should also stop the energy sharing, but you'll have to be careful to stay on the different computers, because if you log into one computer with an account that was used in the 2nd computer, the energy on the first computer would be changed to that of the account.

I'm not an expert on this

I'm not an expert on this subject but I might be able to help a little bit. I assume someone more knowledgeable than me will come by soon.

To answer #1- I would be very surprised if two accounts on two computers in the same house shared ME. I believe it is by machine. I know it is not by email. I know this because how I use two non-sharing accounts on the same computer with the same email address. I have one steam account and one normal account. The reason I do it this way is because I started with steam but today discovered that with the same steam login all knights share ME even if one of them is paid.

#2: I believe this would be permanent. Only one knight would need to be paid.
