While updating Spiral Knights through steam today I got an error that said "We were unable to download the necessary files after five attempts. You can try running the application again, but if it fails you may need to uninstall and reinstall."

I tried running it again and it did not work, so I tried re-installing the application through steam. Still no luck, and I still got the same error.

Is there any way to fix this? Thanks.

Oh, and if it is of any help, I am running the game in steam on Ubuntu 32bit through PlayOnLinux. It ran perfectly before, and as a matter of fact, it almost ran BETTER then the linux version.

You can use the url to download the file manually and copy it to the correct game folder. That should allow it to pass the digest and continue on.

As for the underlying problem, I don't know enough about the emulator your using to give any helpful tips. But the "Sharing Violation" is usually caused by another program accessing the file, which flags it to prevent changes while its in use.

The Same Problem

I have the same problem I try update Spiral Knights but it says "The Application has failed to launsh due to the following error:
