I was playing the other day and it worked fine.
Yesterday I tried playing and the login screen looked like this:

I have no idea what caused this, or how to fix it.

When I log in it gives me a black screen and nothing happens (I gave it over half an hour once, with no change, I just closed it afterwards).

I've already uninstalled/reinstalled the game client. No change.

I've tried changing the Language settings (thinking it changed to some language my Computer doesn't have a font for). It sits in the Options menu for a bit before the program crashes.

Should I reinstall Java? Could this be a registry problem? (If it is, how do I fix it?)

Any input would be great, thanks.

It could be java or a

It could be java or a corrupted font. Theres also a slight chance it might be corrupted video drivers.

Clear java cache:
https://wiki.csuchico.edu/confluence/display/help/Delete+Java+Cache+in+W...

If that doesn't work, you can manually restore the fonts included in the SK files. You will need WinRAR or something that can open JAR files.
Location:
- The fonts are located in \spiral knights\rsrc\ui\font

Unpacking
- In the \rsrc\ directory open intro-bundle.jar
- Follow the folders to \ui\font
- Extract the ttf files (or the whole folder) to \spiral knights\rsrc\ui\font

*Note that deleting the folder is not enough since the launcher doesn't scan this part of the directory structure prior to launch.

If you can't open JAR files, just delete the entire \rsrc\ folder and the launcher will simply pull down a fresh copy off the patch server.

I've tried all of that and still no change.

I'm still thinking about what it could be. I installed another game the day Spiral Knights stopped working for me, I'm wondering if it could possibly be a Registry problem but I'm not sure how that would work/do this to Spiral Knights.

Planescape:Torment

I'm running all of this on a Netbook without a CD drive so I had to use a Reg fix/patch/whatever as part of my install of P:T so I could run it off the Hard drive instead of a CD.

At the moment I can only suggest reinstalling Java and your video card drivers.. The only other thing I can think of is an installer that was viral or the game overwriting a system file (being from the Win98 era, it was very common).

I wouldn't rule out an infection or a rootkit considering most sources for NoCD hacks can't be trusted.
