I'm recreating this because I felt the topic was off on the other one. I'd like the moderators to see this and take actions into fixing this problem.

To whom it may concern:

Problem: While playing the game, in PVP only, there is a chance mac users sound will randomly fail letting you know your application is going to freeze.
Once frozen, the user can force quit out of the game and turn it back on... I've had to do this three times in one PVP match. Usually it is always once, rarely twice it happens in a match.

Problem: Once you do restart your game, you no longer see the game hud with bombs, speed, and explosion distance.

A lot of Mac users are having this problem, please fix it.

Hardware Overview:

Version 10.6.8 - Leopard I assume.
Model Name: MacBook Pro
Model Identifier: MacBookPro5,3
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
Processor Speed: 2.8 GHz
Number Of Processors: 1
Total Number Of Cores: 2
L2 Cache: 6 MB
Memory: 8 GB
Bus Speed: 1.07 GHz

Please fix this issue,
Holy-Aether (Active)

P.S. The more voice we have the greater chance of assistance.

Problem also exists on

Problem also exists on 10.6.7.

At least one dev (wtfwtf_ok) has said they're working on a fix.
See post #27 here: http://forums.spiralknights.com/en/node/19051

Hopefully it's resolved soon.

why... WHY does this need

why... WHY does this need another thread, when theres already several others concerning this? Why are people so compelled to spread various bits of information about the same problem in 10 different places, as opposed to one place with complete information for easy reading?

@shadowdj5: Get a grip. This

@shadowdj5: Get a grip. This isn't some kind of conspiracy against Mac users. Turns out its because you didn't bother to update your OS.

I can't find the other posts... but basically the problem doesn't exist on 10.7 (which is what they develop on), but does on 10.6 & 10.5. They are still looking into it.

10.7 (or Lion for people who

10.7 (or Lion for people who are actually familiar with Macs) just came out a few days ago. Turns out some people didn't "bother" to pay 30 dollars immediately to upgrade their Macs. Yes, that dev upgraded to lion but by no means does that mean that every mac user will have to upgrade since this is a Leopard and Higher OS game. Frankly, this is pretty frustrating because a large chunk of Mac users, by proxy, are being denied new content (Items, PvP, Recipes) because of this bug. Personally, I want to wait until all the kinks are worked out in Lion. Also my bank account could stand to get a bit bigger as well.

Yep, I wont be upgrading for

Yep, I wont be upgrading for awhile so I'm hoping they get it fixed for 10.6.

I highly doubt there's some sort of anti mac conspiracy. OOO went out of its way and made the game harder to program just to have cross platform support. If they didn't care about Macs the game would have been written differently from the ground up.

I made another thread because

I made another thread because the one thread I did see talking about it had an odd topic that didn't explain what was wrong.. A mod could see this topic and already understand the problem without actually reading the post it self. Should they actually care, they can read exactly what is happening on the first post... They should fix it.

http://forums.spiralknights.com/en/node/19051
Ah yes, this is the one that I seen. :]
"king krogmos is freezing".. I don't believe I have seen the king yet, let alone seen him freeze... :[

It does seem like their mac is newer than mine is though... so that sucks for me, and I'd assume mostly everyone else.

RE: same problem, but the

That is pretty weird, usually when I re-open it I'm in a different spot because someone has killed me 1-3 times while I was gone. :'[

Unless you meant the fact that it does take you back to the game/match, yes it usually always does that.

I'm not sure how many of you

I'm not sure how many of you know me, on game my name is Holy-Aether. I use to play a lot and became slightly busier... As soon as I seen Spiral Knights had Bomberman I was totally excited.. Anyway, it is too frustrating trying to play it having to crash almost every match, sometimes more than once, so I guess I'll be not on as much again.

Problem still exists... only

Problem still exists... only now with the anti-AFK patch, rebooting SK doesn't get me back into the PVP match (and thus no Krogmo prizes). Ugh.

Still a on going issue

I think thats its great that the people that go afk can not collect coins and rewards from PvP however the people running the MAC computers version 10.6.8 are still FREEZING UP. When re log I am in the town square. It is now a WASTE of TIME and CROWNS on my partI would really LIKE TO KNOW if your going to FIX THIS ISSUE or should I just give up on doing PvP all together?
I have been loyal with three rings from Puzzle Pirates to here over many years and have yet to deal with such an issue like this . CAN I PLEASE GET A DEVELOPERS RESPONSE HERE PLEASE. This is really beyond unbearable now.

Temporary Leave

I actually stopped playing Spiral Knights, at least until this is fixed.. It's sad that little mini-game is what brought me back too. I'll still come on and say hi to friends however, and still check this thread every once in a while to see if they are working on it. From what it sounds like they made it worse with not being able to log back in to PVP?

Worse for the Mac 10.6

Worse for the Mac 10.6 players, yes. If you freeze, you're not getting back into the PVP game (and not collecting any prizes).

The anti-AFK measures are good overall though. It was ridiculous having AFKers (1) ruin team matches for their teammates, (2) collect Krogmo Coins at a remarkable clip (with Boosters), (3) climb the leaderboards, etc.

So for the community overall, they made it better. For the portion of us running Mac 10.6.x, yes it got worse as a byproduct. No Blast Network for me until it's fixed. :|

I also have this problem and it's incredibly frustrating to have the game freeze 1 min from a win. And then be booted to townsquare... is there an ETA on this fix?

Please a Dev response would be nice....

In one of the other threads

In one of the other threads they mentioned they know about it and have machines on 10.6 hunting it down.

Re: In one of the other threads

Its been right at 2 weeks since the release or response to this situation. Why not just rebuild the blast network from the ground up for the MAC's ?

I'm as frustrated as anyone

I'm as frustrated as anyone else, but we've already gotten a statement about this from a dev. It's an issue, ultimately, with how pre-10.7 OS versions handle Java. They develop on 10.7, so were unaware that there was an issue until the PvP was released into the wild. They have machines running 10.6 now and have been trying to track down the bug. There hasn't been news on this front since that announcement.

I doubt that they've forgotten about it, but the fact that there hasn't been an update yet indicates that it's a complicated issue--there may be something quite different about whatever 10.7 is doing vs 10.6 when it comes to Java (I have no idea, I'm making an educated guess here). Expecting them to scrap the current Blast Network and rebuild it "from the ground up" is a bit overboard.

If there was some rollback of the anti-AFK measures, given that a lot of people are being screwed over anyway by the game thinking they were AFK, then the freezing issue would be a little easier to handle. As it is, yes, pre-10.7 Mac users are basically out of luck at the moment (and see one of the other of several threads for my explanation of why a lot of us haven't upgraded to 10.7 yet).

so...

Does anyone have an idea about timeframe for this? I'm just wondering, not trying to be impatient or anything... Yes, I know I could just upgrade to OSX Lion, but 1) the 3.5gb download size, thanks to bandwidth restrictions at my college, will kill my internet for 2 days; 2) I could spend the $30 on that, or buy CE with that, and the latter seems like a better option for OOO, just saying ;)

I'm honestly more concerned that the later pvp expansions work for the older OS versions than the current, but it'd be nice to at least hear feedback like hey we're getting close or hey guys sorry we're still a while off from figuring this out. You know, just communication.

I quit playing this game due to them not fixing this situation, if they actually do something about it (which I'm highly doubting) I will possibly return to my 12 hour days.

Crying for a dev to get in

Crying for a dev to get in here RIGHT NOW and give you a response is not what these forums are here for.

These forums are here for you to get help from other users, usually with simple problems. WHEN the devs decide to step in and comment, they do it only to assure people that they're working on something----but I have a feeling they took one look at this thread and knew it would only cause more whining and entitlement problems.

If you submitted a support ticket, it would be helpful if you could post their response so other people could, you know, get help.
If you don't submit an official support ticket, you don't get to whine about not getting help from Three Rings.

Re: Crying for a dev to get in

ONE MONTH AGO they posted here that they were working on it, so there is no need for a official support ticket. So Providince I can type anything where I want when I want that doesn't require you or anyone else but a developers UPDATE on the STATUS of the SITUATION.

ONE MONTH AGO you STILL

ONE MONTH AGO you STILL weren't entitled to the devs updating anything here. That's not what these forums are for.

All I'm trying to get across to you is the fact that if you really need personal attention from the devs RIGHT NOW you need to submit a ticket. That's what tickets are for.

Yes, I read that thread when

Yes, I read that thread when it was made.
That does not change the fact that you have not asked Support for help, and you are still whining about how they haven't helped you.

If you want more information, you need to ask them. They don't have the time to follow every single thread----if they came into every single bug report thread and gave updates on how they're doing, nothing would ever get done.

Take some initiative.

Sorry, I have not been on

Sorry, I have not been on here since I quit because they weren't fixing it.

You'd be surprised how many in game tickets I sent letting them know my game crashed, and my version of Mac I was using. I believe I sent a support for almost every crash I had further letting them know I'd like the problem fixed. And when my guild, Active, had a long discussion about the many Mac users in the guild crashing I left a support ticket about many of my guild members having the same problem.

So please, don't let us know we have not asked the Devs. I've actually submitted it on the email ticket system where they told me to use the F2 in game system or something. They do know about it, and they don't care. (They aren't as interested in fixing Mac problems than windows where most of their audience is from)

This might be my last time on this thread, since I accidentally clicked it and it was saved in my browser bar.
- Holy-Aether

P.S.: I've even let them know the time my game crashed three times in the same game.
