1. Not all weapons and armours have descriptions. Just lazy on OOO's part is all.
2. A lot of people take the Dark Thorn Shield over it for the damage bonus. I had a Dragon Scale shield, though. I liked it just fine, just trading off for the Crest of Almire.
3. I can't speak for either.
