After the reboot on from 3 days ago, i am unable to log in to SK, and i keep getting the message "Either there is a temporary network outage or the server is not yet fully operational. Please wait a moment before reconnecting." I was able to play fine before the reboot, but afterwards, i am unable to; i've reinstalled the game several times, no dice. Also, i use a Steam account, and the internet still works fine. Help please?

Open up a windows command

Open up a windows command prompt and type the following.
(you can use the search bar in the start menu if you have Win7/Vista)

tracert 184.73.214.58

Then right click on the cmd window, select all, and click inside the window to copy the text. Then paste the results back here.

Theres no blackhole on the network, so it has to be something in the security suite or a firewall blocking it. Are you able to temporarily shutdown all the features on your security software? Or you can try power cycling the router.

Power cycling a router is

Power cycling a router is usually just unplugging it for a few seconds then plugging it back in. How to handle the security software depends on which program your using. Usually you can right click a tray icon to disable auto-scan or auto protection (you need to find the firewall or internet protection... labeling is never consistent anymore.), but most newer programs make you jump through some ambiguously worded hoops to keep you from doing it on accident.

Ooook, so i tried the powercycling, and it didn't work. Also, I found the system tray (if that's what you were talking about), but i wasn't able to open it or do anything with it. Could you tell me what i should do there?

The tray is the bunch of

The tray is the bunch of icons on the lower right of the desktop, and is loaded by certain programs for either quick access or status monitoring without having to have a full window open. You can double-click (which usually launches something) or right click on icons (brings up a small menu with common options/actions for the program)

Update:

First, thanks for all the effort you've put into helping me, whether this ends up working or not.
Being that this is a relatively new computer, our system's security software is not yet activated, so i will try to make that happen ASAP.
In the mean time, i had uninstalled and reinstalled Steam, but to no avail. I noticed when i go to the firewall settings, there are multiple copies of Steam and SK... Should i allow all versions through? Or does it not matter?

Typically you'll have 2

Typically you'll have 2 entries for SK. TCP/UDP or Inbound/Outbound, depending on the program. They should all be allowed by default, so if its not then we found the problem.

As for security software, I would recommend getting rid of the bundled trial program and get Microsoft Security Essentials along with MalwareBytes instead. Both are free, light weight, and doesn't mess with system operation.
