Newbie guide

Honestly it would be really nice if there was a newbie guild somewhere, especially one geared towards people with MMO experience. Suggestions on weapons, explanations on levels, stuff like that. A lot of us are coming from WoW where there are websites with extensive details with playing suggestions. The wiki is nice, but vague, and the forums seem to be targeted more towards higher tier players and not true newbies (like myself).

Yeah, there is no true

Yeah, there is no true "Starting Off" guides as of yet (I actually think there may have been a couple posted by players, but those are probably outdated and long buried).

I don't have a ton of time to go into detail, but the kind of gear you go will heavily depend on your play style, if you want to perform to your maximum. Most people would recommend item lines that have potential to go up to 5* gear, rather than the ones that only upgrade to 3* or so. In that vein, if you are a sword heavy player, the current most popular line is the Wolver sets. They provide good normal and piercing defense, a small health bonus, and increased sword damage. Piercing is particularly useful against jellies and the Jelly King, who you could farm to get the ever-powerful Sealed Sword or Antigua.

In honesty though, grab whatever seems feasible and appealing to you. The Spiral Quartermaster offers all 2* - 5* of the "standard" gear, which is actually quite good. They all provide normal defense and normal attack, which is the universal stat, so you can't go wrong with those. Also be sure to check the recipe vendor in the Bazaar everyday. He has a new set of 1*-2* recipes everyday, great for starters.

Sorry that I'm not really going into full detail; I haven't had much time to play lately, so I'm sure others may have more helpful advice. If you have specific questions about certain lines or gear, I'm sure myself and other could answer them.

If you're brand new, what you

If you're brand new, what you want to be buying is 1-star recipes or items. At that level, there isn't really a wrong thing to buy, but the merchant chilling in dungeon level 4 will have more unique recipes than what you can get in town.

Then when you're decked out in 1 star items, you'll have an easier time with levels 5-8, so you can make two-star items, and so on.

Don't knock Vatel, all the recipes I own are from him and they're all 2-star.

Everybody who isn't T3 should check Vatel's shop every day.

The wiki is mainly confusing

The wiki is mainly confusing now because the information that people initially built it off of was from when they played during the "preview event" (or what basically surmounts to beta). Give it time and we'll get it nice and straight forward again!

I'm sure that, eventually, there will be a more extensive starting information section. However if you do the initial gate in the Rescue Camp you can gain a lot of information from that. Equipment wise: A lot of different equipment is out there, money is easy enough to come by so you can figure out what kind of items you like, and you can judge a weapon by its ratings: the elemental, piercing, ect damage as well as its speed rating, and specials (such as +x health of charge time reductions).

If your coming from WoW, please realize that they've had a long time to get all those guides up as well as the fan-base to constantly be updating every times something new comes out. This game has only been public a week, so please give us players (both veteran and new!) some more time to get things out there. (I know if I actually had enough time I'd do a guide; but mostly I stick to helping a fellow player in there quest to constantly update the wiki)

If you have questions, find me in game, I'll be more than willing to try and help out!
