i dont think there is any online game that bases the day/night cycle on one's own time.
since the majority of the action takes place under the crust of Cradle a day and night cycle is largely useless especially in places like Candlestick Keep

Since the clockworks is immune to day/night cycle, there would be no harm on implementing a client-side day and night cycle in Haven and Rescue Camp...
We don't even know if Cradle rotates... if you look at the background in Aurora levels, you can see artificial Sun and Moon attached to rails.
And if anything it should be based on server's clock, not clients. Esp. if they want to reserve the possibilities to add some time-related effects to the game.
