I have been playing a lot of Lockdown games and it all boils down to who has the Gran Faust or the Divine Avenger or some other "overpowered" weapon. People have been complaining a lot about this system, and instead of just nerfing the damage of these weapons, why not put a parry system?
This parry system I am proposing is only applicable to swords (well duh). What I want this parry system to do is allow someone, with the swing of their sword, to be able to filter out some of the damage from an opponent's sword swing. It should be heavily reliant on the swords normal attack(no outlying elemental, shadow, or piercing damages added), so a heavy normal damage sword should be able to parry a Divine Avenger or a Faust. Piercing weapons such as the Flourish line should only be able to parry other swords that have pure piercing damage(meaning they can't parry other swords, other than piercing ones), except for its final strike(the one that pierces you), or its charge attack(poke, poke, slash). Swords cannot parry bombs or the projectiles of guns(because we aren't Jedi).
Feel free to comment about my idea. I just hope that most people are on my side on this one.
makes sense. seems reasonable and perhaps it should work within a small radius of the front of the knight? And perhaps if you really want to go that far, give a bonus to hitting a knight directly in the back like a backstab effect? Just a thought =P That way the quicker swords would be able to get behind the heavy swingers and prove to be equal in terms of speed and damage, and based on the skill of a player.
