Ok so my main character is on steam and im posting from my alt. I already know about the forum preferences, but i cant figure out how to do it with steam! PLZ HELP!!!!

By changing it on the forums does not change it on your steam account. If you want that to be your steam avatar, just download the picture by left clicking it and selecting Save as. Then select where to save it. Then open steam and upload that as your new steam avatar.

Your Steam account has its own settings, separate from the forums here. You'll have to open Steam up and set your avatar there.
EDIT: If your problem is that you can't find the settings page... right click the Steam icon in your taskbar, click "Settings", then click on the "Friends" tab. It's right there, right next to the option to change your displayed name.
